I can see you like a lot of white tones in this particular garden also mixed with silver elements, structure and colour palate has a lot in play, usually one would have taller plant structures towards the back and then as the garden bed follows through towards the grass one would have smaller plants , like it slopes down. Think of structural plants to pull attention however make sure you don’t clump them too close together, otherwise the emphasis loses its whimsey and mystery. Salvia velour white would do well in your space as it likes full sun. Box hedge plants that you can shape will give structure. Italian pencil pine cypress is good as well maybe the Colorado blue spruce. Hosta usually does well in shade and not full sun. Hosta loves being under large trees that create a canopy and full shade situation, they also like moist spaces. White lavenders could be good as well in your garden ( yes that’s right white lavender). Use your silver elements sparsely I would say ,vibrant greens and whites bring purity and feelings of bridal atmosphere. Silvers gives feelings of winter but they can also give feelings of Tuscan or Mediterranean styles if you mix the right plants together like rosemary. I’m jealous that you can grow Hosta , I can’t where I live. And I love those white flowers with the really tall stems you have . I hope my comment didn’t come across in any negative manner. Great video x.
That looks awesome. Thank you for the tip on removing the oldest branches. Also trying to force bloom, why not since you've already cut them off. Great idea! Never thought to try forcing witch hazel.
I’m excited about this. I am growing dahlias from a few different seed companies. I did a few last year and also saved those seeds. I have just over 30 small containers started and am hopeful they bloom. I can’t wait to see the pretty colors.
Honestly, I'm not sure whats more gorgeous you, or your dahlias? Seriously though, your video was great and informative. Question are you saying one can use horsetail which i have tons of as a liquid fertilizer, how please?
Those lupine are stunning! I have 22 that I winter sowed. I’ve potted them up to 1 gallon pots, but don’t know quite what to do with them! Peonies are my favorite ❤ you’ve given me confidence that I can divide mine this late fall. I have 2 that are quite large and mature .. I get dozens of blossoms from them😊
I love your succulent arrangement! And I love rocks too 😊 The only succulent I have is Jade, but you have definetly sparked my interest in more succulents. My growing season is short and cold.. here in southern Maine 5b/6a. This year I added a cutting garden. Most of my flower beds are perennials and I just hate to cut them. But I also fresh flowers thru the summer 😊 I sing my way thru gardening and talk to my plants too ❤❤
Those irises 🩷 I have a large patch that is 25 years old or so.. in desperate need of dividing… (added to my fall garden chores) I scorched my tomatillos and an elderberry cutting that was doing incredible..😜
Also I think laurel Bay overwinters as a houseplant😊 I am on the hunt for one this year! I have a few herbs I want to find.. not sure If Ill get seeds or visit my local greenhouse!
I love your bed design! They look fabulous!! You have a great selection of herbs! I am starting a tea/medicinals garden in a 4x8 raised bed. Ive got chamomile and calamintha, a bunch of echinacea seedlings, some Muillein, sad looking lemongrass, some orangelo Thyme I started from seed (I love thyme!!!.. and it overwinters in my 5b/6a garden.) I have some lavender I may put in this bed but Im thinking the soil conditions are all wrong for lavender. I have generously topped my gardens, mostly filled my tea garden and have a new 15x15 cut flower garden Ive added 😊 Sage is also reallly easy to start from seed and does well in my tomato raised beds. I have 3 rather large now.. Sage plants that are on their 3rd year.
I'd recommend removing the music, it's kind of distracting as in film it's used to provide a certain tone, feels a bit off. Way too melancholic for making homemade fertilizer. Otherwise, great & informative video. It's cool to see your homemade recipe for compost tea using nettles. I have a lot natively in my soil, but I have one of those mass-produced composter. I started spraying my plants with a kelp fertilizer and saw amazing growth recently, so I may opt to switch to utilizing a compost tea to help feed my veggies.
Fantastic tour! I love that you guys repurpose trees 🌲 for your garden. The bridge will be a really nice feature! PS: did you guys eat any of the dahlia tubers that you decided not to regrow? Just curious what they taste like. 🙃
I just love to peacefullness and tone of your beautiful garden and channel. You are so calming and gentle. Artemis’ garden is lovely ❤ I had a black cat We named Artemis, his brother was Apollo.. big black cats❤
Thank you! This week we're picking up many of the same varieties we ordered at a fund raising native plant sale. You have given us ideas on our plant placement. Enjoying your videos.
