Don't know the kid but I grew up with his family on his dad's side. Awesome family. I played ball for his grandad when I was a kid. Seems like a really good guy and people need to let up on all the trash talk on the kid and Brent Venables. They'll figure it out.
Hawkins will not make the OU offense a great offense, but I am willing to settle for adequate QB play if he doesn’t make the mistake the Arnold makes. All Hawkins has to do is just not make all those mistakes and improve his play each week. Arnold is still making the same mistakes he made in the Arizona game.
Well guys, good take! So, good news is, we can’t go much lower than what it is now for our offense, so I’m encouraged that we can improve each game enough to keep ourselves in each game…we only lost by so much with no offense in first half…I’m not even throwing in the towel now like some fans seemingly are…I know it’s not pretty right now, but BV isn’t going to stand for mediocre; he’ll correct it so keep your heads up guys! We’re OKLAHOMA! 🤨👍💪🙏
I cant agree more with the Seth Littrel take, the dude should have been fired Saturday night. How do you have one run to a RB to the outside for 17 yards and never even try to run it again?!
I totally disagree with Adam about his Hawkins statement. I was not garbage time in which Hawkins scored. Tennessee blitz Hawkins more with there starting defense because they placed value in not allowing a TD in 18 quarters of football. They were pressing to hold OU out endzone. To hold the vaulted oklahoma offense (reputation only offense) is a helluva feather to have in your hat. Michael Hawkins gets all my respect for goin to take something Tennessee defense was NOT willing to give. He did as a QB 2 , what 4 other QB1s couldn't do. Yes he going to have game or two were he look so shiny but want be from lack effort of truly wanting to win. His decision making looks less reckless than Arnold in my opinion.
Acknowledged that Tennessee was still blitzing. Adam called it garbage time not because of Tennessee's playcalling but because it was the 4th quarter and the game was over. The mental edge just isn't going to be the same.
@themainlinepodcast mental edge would still be there to accomplish their goal of no touchdowns scored. I guess my question should be ,do you not think that stat was priority for tennessee defense? I believe it was a goal going into the fourth
@@TheSteddypoundin Don't disagree with you on that. Having that goal is different than needing that goal though. The strain to be perfect is different in that scenario. Add the fact that they probably got a bit worn down as the game went on.
@themainlinepodcast understandable on the worn down aspect. Keep in mind being worn is the fourth quarter is football. Regardless of level of energy left from previous 3 quarter. It's still hopefully 100% what they have to give. I think they wanted that goal and it was probably discussed on sideline with tennessee defensive coaches and players. I think it meant more than what is being talked about. The second touchdown probably fail more garbage time I guess. Great show look forward to hearing more.
I was just telling my son the same. These guys aren't nostradamus. He could be the next RG3 or the next spare that flames out. We have to see multiple games to know.
Adam, Hawkins played significantly better than Arnold. Blatantly obvious. Eye test. Listen to Gabe talking about him. He went to practice/scrimmage and was expecting freshman mistakes from him, but he didn’t make any. I know you’re being cautious, but be accurate.
Hawkins was sacked more than Arnold and didn't move the ball at all in his first four possessions. The eye test was still ugly in a lot of ways. Hopefully the two TD drives are more indicative of who Hawkins is than the other 5 possessions that went four plays or less.
He didn’t make many mistakes. He got what was there to get. Made quick decisions. Took care of the ball. You can’t judge off of how many 3 and outs there were. Most of the blame for those was on non-QB players. JA couldn’t do anything and had 3 horrible, boneheaded mistakes. He is done for now.
Clean offensive staff except Demarco and receiver coach ONLY NEED BETTER RECRUITING ON OL!! POOREST RECRUITING POSITION GROUP BY FAR AND WE PRETEND BEDENBAUGH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT??? Sorry, time for new blood. It's a results oriented game and he ain't getting the results, where's the stacked competition depth. With that injuries could have been overcome.
Michael is the real deal and I believe Jackson is really good, but he also has to believe in that. Also, you need to have that attitude to get you going the right way in life. You need motivation every single play. Every single drive you need to have excitement in your blood. To be a really good quarterback. You cannot be shy. You have to be a leader. And unfortunately. Not every 5 🌟. Grows up to be good.Sorry, it's the truth. And playing for oklahoma the standards are high
Tennessee (D-Line) is licking their chops...but they only have FOUR SACKS AGAINST SCRUBS!! FOUR SACKS!!!!! Where's the evidence that they are soooooo dominant?
If we're having to count on Woodi for anything but a back up role here and there then we're gonna get absolutely dotted in the secondary! Woodi is probably our worst coverage db. Love him, but it is what it is 🤷♂️.
The game is played on the field, OU fans think they are better, remember there’s a reason Tennessee is rank 6 there a reason for this. This is the same conversation that Tennessee heardrum before NCSt.😊
I think this game will be a little like the tn iowa game except yall will score more than iowa because your offense isnt thaaat bad but i say yall will have 2 or 3 tds
Tn has a better coach qb oline dline wrs rbs tes your qb is your rb an your oline is new and beatn up..yall do have the feild advantage but nico is ice cold he has to deal with the pressure from tn fans everytime he plays which is more pressure than any feild can put on him he will still make mistakes tho because hes a frshman and he will get sacked a few times but i think tn defense will have more sacks i think it will be a high scoring close game for the most part..yall can win anything can happen when your in the sec you see what kentucky did to ga nothing is guarenteed i think itl be a good game tho and i cant wait..our boys are gona play out of their minds for coach they know how much this means to heupal theyre gona try to prove to ou and the world that using heupal as a scapegoat cuz you cant fire your brother was a huge mistake good luck an welcome to the sec
I think Tennessee should be favored fs. But to say ou has no chance is either straight disrespect or arrogance. OU has the best home winning percentage in football in the last 2 decades. I remember last time Tennessee came to Norman. The SEC team was supposed to beat the little12 team that yr too, everyone told us so. Idc if you're the #1 team in the nation, if you're coming to Norman at night then you can just consider the Sooners #2 for that game regardless of rank bc most of the time we are coming to play!
Enjoy the corny dogs and oklahoma BBQ. BTW...don't let the screen door hit your ass on the way back home cause it's gonna be a lonely and long flight home with an L.
