Have you ever wondered why air disasters happen? Well, this channel answers that. Basing off original accident reports, this channel will explain how air disasters occur, why air disasters occur, and what the industry did about it to make sure these air disasters never occur again.
The plane contacted some trees and then it struck the mountain head on. The 727 broke in half and disintegrated when the fuel exploded; the remains were scattered in a 60-meter (200 ft) radius.
CRM saves lives people! Saudia 163 is a tragic example (the flight crew had bad CRM, cabin crew didn’t). Could you do the loss of Pan Am 6005 next? Very similar to Avianca 410
If that flight computer had only brought up Rozo instead of Romeo as the nearest waypoint, they would have been fine. And then to find out they could have cleared the mountain if the speed brakes had been retracted....damn. Just makes this one of the worst crashes in my opinion.
These videos are very informative and well made but how do they know who was stabbed on the plane? Is there any way of knowing what exactly happened, or are they just basing it off of phone calls people were making?
@@SwitchMonkey this mostly involved DC-10s, but the idea of rear-thrust jets was anathema. if an engine (particularly the center) grenaded, you lose all attitude controls. i saw the chicago wreck happen.
@@em1osmurf there’s more to it than that but generally you are correct. However after Chicago, the DC-10 was modified to prevent asymmetric slats. And after souix city the hydraulic system was modified to preserve hydraulic fluid forward of the tail in the event of a catastrophic failure of the number 2 engine. It would allow reduced control of pitch and yaw.
@@SwitchMonkey when the lawyers for McDonnell Douglas in the Sioux City crash were asked about why engineers would put all 3 hydraulic systems in proximity of a potential bomb, they answered "Well, they can't think of every scenario!".
Aviation through mountains is only available to Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and only after the most advanced training. A Boeing 727 can never manage it. Fog, yes; solid rock, no. That is basic aviation.
The fact that this ever happened, and that any aviation tragedy for that matter, infuriates and disgusts me to no end. Beyond unacceptable that these people had to lose their lives for the staff at Linate to open their eyes and up the safety ante when the safety ante should have been high in the first place.
It was my understanding that the "passenger" was his flight instructor. Munson was my favorite player. Didn't quite understand how he was killed and the other two walked away. Was he flying without his seatbelt on?
First officer made an honest mistake. But so did the Captain. There have been several similar situations where the crash landing would have been the best option to reduce deaths, and the attempted go around cost more. If you are on the ground, then good. Stay there.
In the horrible case here, how could two experienced pilots get too fixated on trying to get their airplane back on course, when they weren't too alarmed about the autopilot being turned off and the airplane was starting to bank. The captain then attempted to assume control of the airplane afterwards when the instrument panel was then shut off, only to get caught into an uncontrollable spiral and crash. It's terrible to notice that Adam Air has had a bad reputation to properly train their pilots and to take short-cuts over safety. How can such an airline be allowed to operate?? RIP to all lost.✝️
