In October of 2004, Horizon Hobby rocked the RC world by unveiling one of the most revolutionary advances to ever hit the market: Spektrum 2.4GHz Digital Spectrum Modulation Technology. While in development, Spektrum engineers sought to create a radio system that provided the end user with the same locked-in feel as a crystal-based radio while eliminating the problems of previous technologies. Spektrum engineers sought to improve both the modeling experience and safety all at the same time. Since then, racers and pilots have embraced Spektrum products and made the brand the leader in spread spectrum technology
Over the years Spektrum has brought major advancements with it's products. Starting with the DX3 and DX6 years ago, the line of Spektrum products now includes some of the most advanced air and surface RC equipment in the world.
My setup are as followed: Flight mode 1 is AS3X setup using the Gain nob to adjust the roll and pitch, also to rotate counter clockwise to turn off the AS3X if desired. Flight mode 2 for safe select self leveling and Flight mode 3 for Envelope.
Note: If the plane does not support specific features of the new AS3X+ then those menus under Forward Programming will be hidden. E.g. The Viper 90 does not support Nosewheel Stabilization nor Hand Launch Assist and so those menus will not be displayed when using the Preset files. I would guess that the Eratix might support Hand Launch Assist so that menu item might be visible. It certainly will not support Nosewheel Stabilization and so that menu item will not be displayed. I've confirmed this with Spektrum.
Thanks for the videos that are very useful. I have two questions: 1 I forgot to activate the gain channel select I can't find how to do it. Is there a way to do it and how? 2 - On the Gyro Setting menu there is "Gyro System" editable 1,2,..... I don't understand what it is for and I haven't found it anywhere. The radio is the new NX 8 + the AR10360T SMART 10 ch AS3X SAFE receiver. Can you give me some advice? Greetings from Italy
I've got an E-filte Viper 90, a few years old. It has an AR637TA. I updated my Tx to 4.0.0A. I updated the Rx to 3.01.03. I then loaded the AS3X+ Rx Preset for the Viper 90 into the Rx from the Spektrum Programmer and then loaded the Tx Preset from the Rx into a new Model on my NX10. I do not have any new menu items...e.g. Nose Wheel Stabilization. I then Reset the Rx from Forward Programming, and put the Preset back into the Rx. Still no menus. I'm wondering if the Preset hides all the new menu items.
Thanks for some great videos! Since this receiver has a di-pole antenna, you didn't mention how it should be installed. There is a lot of controversy on this on the forums. The receiver instructions don't mention it either. Just would like to know what the manufacturer recommends. Thanks!

Why is Spectrum Programmer software "beta" if it is what is used in production? You want us to use it but you don't want to officially release it?? Version 3.9 yet beta. Makes no sense.
Latest update of the files is from July 16. Does it really still have your attention? For owners of a AS3X+ receiver the best thing to do is download and install the old AS3X files? What is the difference?
I have a 6e and bound to a Carbon Cub. In the Safe mode the down elevator moves so little that it is very hard to bring the plane down for landing. But out of safe there is no problem. Any thoughts
If hardly anyone could use the 2X or 4X AS3X sensitivity multiplier, why the heck did you increase the gain of the algorithm to where you needed to add 0.25X and 0.5X? Is there really a need for 5 sensitivity ranges? I don't like having to turn my gains down from what I've been using or change the multiplier from 1X to 0.5X. With the AR636, I could set the heading hold gain to the same value as the AS3X gain and not have any problems. With the Smart receivers, I might set the AS3X gain to 40%, but I can't use more than 10% for heading hold. And then there's Stop Lock and Stop Release. I don't like having two more adjustments for each axis in every flight mode. I wish you'd release a 3.x to 2.x conversion firmware so we can go back to what we had. The only good thing you've done since the AR636 is change the default SAFE gain from 18 to 35. I like for my gains to be between 30 and 50 percent with the gain sensitivity set to 1X. I used to say that the Spektrum engineers did everything the way I'd do it, but I don't feel that way anymore.
Hi everyone, I binded the AR636A receiver with the new NX8+, the controls works but when I go to forward programming the radio lights up red and responds connection failed. I tried to activate the SAFE as the manual says (crossing the Sticks and moving the switch 5 or more times), but it doesn't work. I must say that with the old DX7S, even with some difficulty, I managed it. I'm in crisis.. Do you have any advice? Greetengs from Italy.
what exactly does this do? just set the as3x settings to suit to model? there isnt much to set you could just have the figures written out and we can input ourselves?
It configures the AS3X+ gains, Stop Lock / Release Rate, Priority, Receiver orientation, etc. for that specific aircraft and essentially saves quite a bit of time and eliminates the possibility of skipping over something accidentally. :)
What about starting with the planes that you sell the most of? Turbo timber evo, aeroscout? Surely those files would be used more than the eratix? Can I request the commander be one to do?
“Ready to fly in no time”. I’m computer illiterate. I thought I could buy the HH carbon cub s 2 1.3m with NX8+ transmitter and just download the file with the transmitter on WiFi. Now THAT would be nice. I am still loving the new plane. Just looking for an easy way to switch from my rtf Tx to my nice NX8+.
You certainly can do that (no wifi needed) with the Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m. This video is for importing an AS3X+ (new stabilization firmware) preset model file, for which the receiver in the Carbon Cub S 2 does not support, nor does it necessarily need. For your Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m, in the Model Select menu you can select "Add New From Template" and then "AcroSAFE.NSPM". This will load a SAFE model file that is configured much like the RTF transmitter for your Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m. All you need to do is bind the transmitter to the Carbon Cub S 2 and you are ready to fly! :)
Update process is still far too hard for a lot of typical users - therefore they will not get the benefits. Until this is resolved Spektrum will always be behind.
It might take a little bit for first-time users to become familiar with the process, but they will quickly find that process to be pretty easy as they use it more. :)
LOL, it has been out for months. This is typical of HH / Spektrum. Not doubting the update in tech (several others have updated gyros in a similar way) their follow up is poor and I bet not much better for existing models in 12 months time.
We are aware. As stated in the video, more will be coming as our pilots continue to fly AS3X+ on various Horizon Hobby aircraft in order to create these preset model files. This process takes a significant amount of time and testing for each model. :)
@@SpektrumRCvideos I wish the AS3X gains were less sensitive so that 0.25X and 0.5X wouldn’t be necessary. I never could use 2X or 4X on anything. I think having 5 gain levels and having to use 0.5X is ridiculous. I liked the AS3X gains on the AR636 better, but the SAFE gains were about twice too sensitive. I’d rather use 35 than 18, so I always change the multiplier from 100 to 50 using a text editor.
@@miksterr If they'd quit jacking with the gain algorithms, they could just copy the gains from the previous versions to the new ones. Now they've added 0.25X and 0.5X because 1X is too sensitive. That's absolutely ridiculous. Heading hold used to work great in the AR636, but in the Smart receivers, the heading hold gain can't be more than 5 or 10 percent even though you're running 30 to 50 percent for AS3X. I wish John Adams was still with us. Whoever replaced him is totally lost.
Question = I have a DX6 Rugged and I’m trying to bind to my ax24 with the Furitek mini Komodo is there a trick to it ? The stock receiver blinks fast but doesn’t connect to the transmitter 😊

☠BLACK BARON☠0:57 ... Min and Max RPM ... is it the RPM of the KV Motor used with 6S or 12S or is it the Main Rotor RPM using the specified "ratio" of motor pinion gear / main gear? Can someone please clarify? Thank you ... Brand Management.
Based on everything I've read, once the DX Tx models been updated to FW Version 2.11, they will be able to use the AS3X+ FP features. If your Tx is still on FW versions prior to 2.11, they will of course be able to use FP of the AS3X non Plus (+) Rx versions and the Nose Wheel Steering and Hand-Launch features of FP, but not the other AS3X Plus features. The DX models do not get the 20 channel capability update the NX and iX Txs get with the exception of the iX12 I believe. The DX models only get the AS3X+ update once they're updated to FW 2.11, supposedly the last DX software update.
Very nicely done and informative video! But, why in the Wonderful World of RC would someone design the Avian 80A ESC for 8S, yet design the Avian 100A ESC for ONLY 6S?!? (I will be SMH and LMAO at Rektum’s idiocy for years to come!)
I need Help with my new IX20 sept 16, 2024 this is my secound radio first one would not charge only make the screen to display green and yellow lines and sound like it was got to do something bad. I have the new radio and wow it charge normal, seem to work good but I am going to fly my cheepest models before the 20,000 models. but the help iI am hoping for is Y dose the touch switch not work after 2 hours of trying to make sure it was porgram correctly. I am hoping in can get help from someone , Horizon supprot said that is just to bad we are not going to exchange to it for a new radio if you want is to fix you are going to have send it back in your dime.
Could not transfer the listed conscendo file. the Spektrum programmer says the consendo is on an SRM file and not a SAX file. Dragging onto Spektrum Programmer isn't taken.
wow i cannot express how much i hate that you need to register in order to update so they can target ads and crap. disgusting from what used to be a family friendly RC company
