Not that is really matters but Parkell Snap resin is not a methyl methacrylate resin as stated in the video. It is an ethyl methacrylate resin. It is a great material because it shrinks significantly less than methyl methacrylate resins. In the video you stated that the correct liquid/powder ration is 3 parts liquid to one part powder. It is the reverse with 3 parts powder to one part liquid. Vaseline is not appropriate to use as a separator because it inhibits the polymerization of both methyl and ethyl methacrylate resins. The Vaseline will also get into the dentinal tubules and it nearly impossible to eliminate after. This will prevent bonding agents from entering the tubules which is not a good thing. Bond strengths will be significantly reduced. Using glycerin or KY jelly is preferred because it does not inhibit the setting of the acrylic and is water soluble so it can easily be removed with an air/water syringe. When the excess was removed from the temporary the burr was applied perpendicular to the long axis of the temporary. This does not enable removal of the horizontal overhang that was present on the temporary. If this is not removed gingival inflammation will result and the tissue will bleed at the delivery appointment. The exothermic reaction is really not something to be concerned about. Dentin is an excellent insulator. The temporary will fit best if the temporary is not allowed to move during the polymerization and is allowed to completely set on the tooth. When performing the adjustments to the polycarbonate shell it is much easier to use an acrylic burr to shape the cervical following the gingiival contopur. The shell crown should be trimmed in this fashion until the incisal edge matches the contra lateral tooth. In the video the shell was not trimmed enough and the temporary turned out longer than the adjacent tooth. I hope these tips enable you to make even better temporary crowns.
