Meat soup got me through my first winter. My hunters were working over time, whilst my gatherers struggled. I had an abundance of meat, so I was doing 4 meat 4 water to get 4 soups.
The main problem with your workshop is that you have both people doing the same tasks instead of one person doing each side. Split them up, and they will be more productive instead of fighting over resources. Also, chop up your stumps; the woodcutter will collect them instead of chopping up logs. It was mentioned on Discord that if you roll, you can remove the arrows sticking out of you. The warehouse worker has a specific radius in which they will gather things. So, if they aren't grabbing certain things, it may be out of reach. That is what the market is for, to transport items between warehouses.
i would love to do a video on longhouses. i need more playtime with them though. i want to upload again but Life sucks sometimes lol. hopefully ill be able to do uploads and live streams again soon
@2:44:45 I had one guy die in the battle - two handed melee warrior ... The hit boxes on the Jotun are a joke - neither you or the settlers can reliably hit them with melee weapons. I fought the monster by myself and almost got him down with arrows, using two handed axe to fight small golems and healing crystals. Problem was that fight lasted ALL day long ... So I swamped the monster and it was over in 2 minutes.

yeah it has come at the same time for me as well. someone in a stream i believe said that they had it happen at another time and since i couldn't exactly verify that... well you know
What I did that works great for raids is, give everyone a Reinforced club even the archers in case they get rushed. Give everyone else shields. Then make everyone a reservist. That way all you have to do is go to the settlement tab and hit Call To Arms, everyone will start to defend. Also upgrade everyone cloths to what u have on. Tip animal traps, when they break just hit B and click on dismantle, then dismantle it. It puts it in your inventory then just put it back down. It is good as new. No need to build new ones lol. Oh and there are fences.
Hey there!! Did you build an Archery Range by this point? I can't find that if you did. I saw someone on Discord mention that you don't really need one. Just use hunters in your towers on an alternating basis. Thoughts?
yeas i built the archery range quite early when i built the other defense building (name escapes me at the moment)... i have not tried that but i find towers to be expensive for their durability and static nature. i can just have my archers move around and defend more area
They are too different. and i dont have as much experience with Bellwright. for me right now i prefer ASKA but i cant deny that Bellwright from the outside looks to have way more content (makes sense its been out for a while)

that is something i have not interacted with much. because finding meat can be so easy i tend to not interact much with the fish hut. but hopefully soon ill be able to record again and work on a video for that as well
@44:35 Going into battle with 5% HP ... a bit overzealous? ;) Honestly once I found out that with bone arrows I do like 15-20 damage and in linien clothes I get 40 damage, I withdrew immidiately. I did the testing at the furthest boss from my village, as well, with half the map uncovered (and had a save game stored away from the game save folder). Once I came back with iron weapons and leather armor (around day 50), the fight looked much different ;)
Upgrade your gather, lumber, and stone huts to the house. It creates much more storage. Your first workshop is still making stone tools. Delete those so you aren't wasting materials. If you make an iron knife and give it to your hunter, you will start getting pelts instead of just scraps. You can safely do 5 iron to 15 coal as long as you stay in the center zone.

I did not understand why people complain about how this game is difficult. I find it most annoying, but not difficult. I'm watching this gameplay to find out what is so difficult for people and so far it is the failure to set goals in a reasonable manner. I mostly had problem with people efficiently doing the assigned task and was watching "how to's" to see if anyone resolved fundamentally blotched AI behaviour. So far no luck, with one exception, sort off - building separate magazines and other buildings (one magazine for raw food, one for cooked food, one for normal wood, one for hard wood one general and 2 woodcutters - one for normal and one for hardwood) and restricting access is needed, but it is idiotic mechanic solving by overbuilding, IMO. Anyway the problems here were (this is for new viewers, mind): a) Setting up many watch towers, where each needs to have settler assigned to work. I build barracks on day 14 with one guy who policed the settlement with two aditional patrol points. No "undefended" penalty anymore plus that one guy helped me greatly in defeating the bear. b) Not having a gatherer build first and maintaining that post with gathering posts (I had six before winter) and additional raw food storage. Result here: lack of food, while my people had plenty of carrot and onion soup (in winter beet soup). Hunter needs at least 3-4 hunting posts AND planty of arrows - yours was lacking arrows. c) Having only one guy farm with 3 fields. I observed that once I added second field the work efficiency dropped, so I have one person per one field policy and it works. One field is flax all through the year. After I saw that it was not enough to provide clothes for all I made two flax fields for two seasons to get more fibers. Than it's garlic, onions inspring and summer and beets through autum and winter. d) Not having a kitchen build - much more efficient than barbecue. In general you had to few food providers and too many mouths to feed. Healer could have helped on the farm, just a s stonecutter (his storage is usually full in all games I saw or played). I had 12 people before the first winter (in order of assigning work): - gatherer -woodcutter -stonecutter (also working as warehouse manager from time to time, later as wood cutter - mind you the guy would not remove tree stums although he was assigned to collecting fire wood for few days) - builder 1 -warehouse manager -crafter/weaver -warrior -field worker - builder2 (later set up to be field worker 3) - field worker2 - warrior 2 - cook Oh, yes - all my people have clubs given. Easy to make, usefull in large groups = very nice defence measure.
pretty valid points. this was at a point (relatively speaking) where i was still learning stuff. most of this is no longer an issue. in the guide series winter was a breeze and first invasion has metal weapons
I am playing this game, died in the first 10 minutes to wolves lol. The game had autosaved so Ididn't have to start completely over. It is a pretty game
I dont understand why you have only 482 subs. I think you belong by the best Aska tutorials on you tube. You are a great teacher and the way you do it is very plesant and natural. So keep on doing this great work. Dont ask ppl to tell you what u do wrong because you are doing great. So you know now. I play this game since the demo came out and i have more hours in the game than you. But also for me you gave me some great tips i didnt know. I have 2 tips for you. After you defeat Fenhir Put a marker there. The npc have one year to pick up the recource. You let the blacksmith making all the tools and weapons. You also need to level your blacksmith skills. When your blacksmith die or leave . You cant make the higher level stuff urself and a new blacksmith needs time to level. So first make tools and weapons urself so you can level your skills. I realy like Aska but i think they need the items enemies drop must be a little bigger. They are hard to see. I also think this game needs something like a dismantle bench like Conan have. So u can get rid of the crappy stuff. Spoiled food ok, but spoiled arrows and bone is stupid. And last some ppl have iron problems later in game so maybe a slow respawn of caves. @@manicclo My understanding and speaking of English is ok, but my gramar is Shitty. I dont know if u know this allready but i am going to try to explain the blacksmith part better. Ok you want to have 2 axes always in your storrage. Make to start 4 yourself thats good for your blacksmith leveling . Make a storage for old parts. The npc s bring old parts there when the axes are broken. Use the option that the blacksmith only use used parts. So the blacksmith use the old axe heads and dont use new iron. Do this with all tools or weapons you want to have in storage. This way you level your skills and also save iron. Because you made 4 axes there are always enough old heads to use. If you think its not enough because u have a bigger population make some more. Every time u need a extra tool or weapon (new npc ) make it double. Check the old parts storage now and then. When u see you have for example alot of axe head you can stop making it. Because you see you have enough for your village I hope you understand this. The way you did it. Every time a npc pick up a axe from the tool storage. The blacksmith make a new one with new iron. (If used parts option is off !! when its on he do nothing, because he dont have used parts !! you didnt make tools urself !! ) Means at the end there are maybe 50 axes (or axe heads) in your village. This is also the course that some players have iron problems later in game.
Klaas is a Dutch name. Its not used as much now days. Its a old fasion name. More and more ppl in the Netherlands use English names now. Dutch last names like Klaassen and Jansen. Klaassen means son of Klaas. Jansen means son of Jan in the old days

Unwise to put the farm and the cook house together as they both use a lot of water, also the workers will take a drink there as they collect their daily food. This will mean the water will be drained in that area and if the workers have limited time and have to queue, they may not get any water and die.
The Wights boss is the easiest of all tbh, I summoned it accidentally in my 1st playthrough on 3rd day while I was just exploring the island walking down the coast line and then killed it just by making it rush and bump his head on the yellow colored unbreakable stones which deals huge amount of damage. I just played Matador and he killed himself LOL
As of recently, the devs added a feature where if you approach close enough to the spawner, a marker is automatically revealed on your map with a symbol of the spawner type. This includes the spires.
I killed them solo nowadays the invasion, just put some fences along the way of mobs point then range them all from a raise terrains on my base, because everytime I bring the villagers to fight some of them died. On the runestone, I only have one at the moment but by daytime there's one villager to buff it up. I'ts for the woods I think. And my game, I just do upgrades for all the houses I have. On iron age now. If everything is upgraded. I'll probably do kill some bosses for the other runestones. Taking it slowly and this game is awesome except for occasional bloodmoons. Bear attack is easy as well, they just got stuck on the sorrounding terrains on my base. They can't jump that high. So range them from above. lol!
Ok, so I've watched a lot of similar videos that had me super nervous about the first winter invasion. I thought for sure I was going to have a TPW for not having enough defenses up and such. Turns out, it was a LOT easier than anticipated. Keep your people armed with some descent gear and you'll be good. Focus on the elites when they come about and put up a tower or two...you'll survive.
yeah all the cheep defense is more to have the enemies focus on something else. its really not that hard but have to make sure i take into consideration that not everyone is gonna have six warriors or going to be that great at combat
Do the mobs come out of one side of the portal or both sides? The portal just appeared next to a cliff on my map and I might build up earth walls to isolate the surrounding area
