I started model building at the age of 13 but I took a break in my 30's to raise a family and now 40 years later I am back building models again. Originally I built plastic models, tanks, planes, ships but I now specialise in matchstick model building, both from kits and scratcbuilding from plans.

Sorry can't help you there. The templates are all used to stick the matchsticks to so consequently there are no templates left at the end of the build and I don't keep the instructions when I've finished the kit, not that they would help you a great deal, they are somewhat lacking in quality. Although I have built this kit I must point out this is not my build, this is the work of Jimmy Morris. Best wishes Vic.

Morning Vic. In readiness for the locomotive can I ask what circle cutting tool you used for the wheels and what card do you recommend to Regards Andrew
@vicparratt7523
@vicparratt7523 5 месяцев назад
Hi Andrew the card I use on all my models is a 250g/m2 card in a pale beige colour, the colour makes it less obtrusive with the wood. I purchase mine from a local stationer come art supply warehouse but you should be able to find something to suit on Amazon. The circle cutter I use is an Olfa circle cutter, it's a Japanese brand freely available on Amazon. I tried several before I settled on this one and although not cheap it's much better than the cheaper versions. Hope this info is of help to you and best wishes Vic.

@vicparratt7523
@vicparratt7523 5 месяцев назад
Hi Andrew glad you found the clamps, you can never have too many clamps. I cut the matches in two ways, firstly I use a scalpel but most of the time I use my Rb Toolz guillotine, it's expensive but I couldn't be without it. There are other less expensive cutters out there but if you want the best its Rb Toolz all the way, I've been using mine for four years and it's never let me down. Best wishes Vic

Hi Jimmy I'm pleased that you're finding the video of some help with your build of this model. Yes I'm afraid instructions are a big let down in matchstick model kits, that and templates that are sometimes the wrong size and shape. The one most important thing to remember with these kits is keep the box art it's often your only reference as to where to place parts. Having said all this they are incredible value for money, 3 months or even more of entertainment for about £15 to £20 ain't bad value.I would be very pleased to see your pictures of your progress just email them to me at vrparratt@gmail.com Good luck with the rest of your build.
