First heard this at Parkfield bluegrass festival outside of the cafe, in pouring rain on the first day of the festival a few years ago.

I saw you in Rossville at Barking Legs Theatre several years ago. There was an older fella' sitting in the bleachers above me under a blanket. It was Norman Blake and I went up and chatted with him a bit. I really enjoyed the show and talking with Norman made it extra special. God Bless

We had a couple of visits from Dan in Adelaide Australia back in the earl 80s. On one occasion he conducted a flat picking workshop which i organised at Regent Music where I worked. It was a great success and I really enjoyed his company and the chance to give him a brief introduction to our country. Gday Dan.

The only time I met Dan Cray he was kind of a jerk. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but it changed my whole view of him. I went from being a fan, to getting rid of all my Dan Crary albums. There are so many generous and humble artists I've met over the years. Crary was not one of them.

I'm new to guitar and learned of you and from you in your articles on solo flat picking in Flat picking guitar magazine. These are vintage magazines now but it was all new to me. I found your information so fascinating... And I loved how you forced your readers to play by ear. And always held back on tabs to make us work a little harder. So in that vain , I'm going to hold back on giving you too much praise, Because like you said..you knew that all along ! God bless you and thank you. Your fan Mike from Boston

We worked together a hundred years ago as disc jockeys at KCKN. Dan was nice enough to invite me and some other guys to his home in Brookside for pizza. I had no idea I was working with a genius. Just knew him as a nice guy.

Dan, after I saw you and Doc at he Winnipeg Folk Festival a few decades ago, I started learning flatpicking fiddle tunes, which provided me with an opportunity to meet and listen to so many great musicians over the years. The question I've had from day 1 is: you have the brightest and cleanest guitar sound, I'm sure a lot depends on your technique, but can you tell me if the strings you use are the main factor? If so, which strings are those. Thanks for the music over the years

Great stuff Dan! I met Dan once, in Cork when I was 16... I had learned a bunch of his tunes from Homespun tapes.... Got to play 1 tune on his guitar before a gig... Still remeber that special moment - He may not even remember it - but a really inspirational guy - thanks Dan!

When the curtains of night are pinned back by the stars And the beautiful moon sweeps the sky When the dew drops of heaven are kissing the rose It is then that my memory flies Upon the wings of some beautiful dove To hasten the message of cheer I’ll send you a kiss of affection and say I’ll remember you, Love, in my prayers When the angels of heaven are guarding the good As God has ordained them to do In answer to prayers that I offered to Him I know there’s one waiting for you Go where you will on land or on sea I’ll share all your sorrows and cares And at night when I kneel by my bedside to pray I’ll remember you, Love, in my prayers May the angels be with you and guard you through life And guide you up Heaven’s bright stairs And know that I love you wherever you roam I’ll remember you, Love, in my prayers

Dan - you have always been an inspiration to me and were the guy that made me want to try to flat pick a fiddle tune! Good to see you're still at it and doing well!!
