In January 2015 fell off a surfboard and dislocated my neck between C5 and 6. This left me with a complete spinal cord injury. I have a wife and three children in this turned my families life upside down, we continue to face major challenges. One of my sources of inspiration and learning has been watching other people with a similar injury demonstrating how they get on with daily life. I had no idea what was possible or achievable, we all need to accept what we have today but not let that determine what will be possible tomorrow.
Hey Mark, I’m also a C5 tetraplegic myself with a new bowhead trying to figure out adaptations. Would you mind having a chat about your bike? Many thanks, Chris
What kind of back rest do you use? Btw, how is your transfers improved to this day? Wish and hope and pray all is well in Christ Jesus. God bless you. Look up!
Hey. I use a varta backrest that has lateral supports. They are medium supports and flexible so I can still move around in the chair and lean over enough to pick things up off the floor
God bless in Jesus! I’m a fellow quadriplegic. Jesus is coming soon. I’ve been 26 years with a C-6 C-7 injury. It’s never easy, and I know it’s of the greater affliction but not the worse which is death. God has given us eyes that see the world at its beauty and ugliness. Stay strong. Prove God and the Lord Jesus. I can say I’ve have. Now still as difficulties increase but so my hope has been greater in a God that is coming. Open the Word to know what GOD* does, did, and will do in written testimony. God bless in Jesus.
Hi Mark! Just curious with you saying you are a C5 quad, how you are balancing the bowhead? Do you have the PIN to lock out the Leaning portion? I am also C5 and tried a bowhead with no success
Hey. Yeah I'm a C5 complete quad so no triceps or hand Dexterity. It's been a mission learning how to ride and develop the bike so I can control it. The key things are putting the accelerator into the chin guard on a full face helmet, this means that my hands can be fixed onto the handlebar width active hands Velcro mits full stop from there it's just been lots of trial and error getting control over the breaks and learning how to lean and turn it. It's getting better now and I'm confident on most grade 2 mountain bike trails and trying some harder stuff
