That's not actually a Rolls-Royce Merlin. Its actually a Rover (nee Rolls-Royce) 'Meteor' which was a post-war military tank engine. The Meteor, while based on the Merlin was, unlike the Merlin, radically de-tuned and not supercharged. The first Meteors were initially produced by Rolls-Royce and then later - and by far the vast majority of them - produced by Rover, right into the 1960s.
Most you can put in those B207 motors is around 400-410 if we’re being safe! Anything over without the supporting mods will definitely hurt your engine. I assume he had a nice stage 4-5 tune pushin 400hp
@@LjThaDon Given how much has gone in to the body, this definitelty has forged internals, possibly sleeved, is portet and has very aggresive cams. It is probably able to push 700-800, but running 500-600 as it is common to run the car quite a bit lower than what it is capable of. Theres a guy on garaget that ran 800+ as a daily with the b207 and XWD
It's interesting that there are people on here commenting on how BMW and/or Mercedes are much better cars. This is an obvious show of ignorance since they are assuming more money equates to more car. I haven't had a single BMW or Mercedes ever give me a worthy challenge on the freeway. Saab may have taken a giant shit on itself with the bankruptcy and the GM problems, however, my Saab came directly from Sweden and it doesn't suffer from GM shortcuts and stupidity.
@qazeder no its actually a gm based motor its not one of the older saab motors its based of the lsj used in the cobalts and its a varyant of that called the lk9. the motor in that car is actually a gm motor.
@PAC0TAC0 well the block left alomst untouched since probably 1987... so i don't see anything "gm" about it. yes, gm used this same engine in opel/vauxahal etc. saab used gm's crap like 2.2,1.9 tid and 2.8 petrol. maybe i've forgotten something...
Nice meteor! But isnt the meteor made by Rover and not RR? Man would I like to have these one day, and put it in a bike! Hehe, as if thats gonna happen...
