A someone tell me what took so long to clip Van Alden? Were his men taking a moment of “let the boss sweat for once” break? I thought Eli was gonna take care of Van Alden thus earning Al’s favor again.
The musical choice Devuélveme a mi chica (Spanish for Give me back my girl) is the perfect choice for this scene, except that "the guy in the Ford Fiesta" is Rafa himself. One (not so) mistake though, the Mexican version censors the lyric "Mamon" by overlaying a reverbed version of David (lead singer) singing the word "Sufre", but perhaps Rafa got a legitimate Spanish copy of a Hombres G cassette
What i like about this scene, he didnt sell the fed. Not because " it was the right thing, he would rot in jail and justice would win" he knew from the inside just how corrupt the law was. I think, his last speech was just him trying to hold on to something, anything that gave purpose to his life, to kill Capone, to just burst into a last frenzy, his last Words were rambling of a man who long had Lost any faith in anything, broken, without any meaning or sanity left, he just wanted to die, but before that, discharge his hate to Al, no more negotiations or sweet talk, just madness and a Will to go on his own terms, exploding one more time
I really feel for young women and girls who have fathers like that man and have to live with them 😢 life must be, painful humiliating and terrifying for them.
Most of the guys who got capped on this show died with eyes wide open, but Van Alden looked at peace (ignoring the huge hole in his skull). After reclaiming his name, punishing his tormentors, and finally getting to tell Capone to his face what he really thought, he probably was.
This scene is both comedic and tragic and hilarious and off the wall-bat shh crazy, all at the same time. Outstanding acting from everybody involved. Love it.
Good scene. Sloppy how the gun play was handled. When Al first produces the gun, the hammer is back in fire position. A moment later, the hammer is forward. This gun is a model 1911 and will not fire in this position.
