Is it just me or this makes no sense. where in the Bible does it say Jacob was a deceiver when his mother put him up to it and told him by the Bible to listen to her command?
Well technically he asked Esau to give up his birthright in a moment where he was vulnerable and close to death (he did that without his mother’s demands). And later on, even if his mother commanded him to deceive his father for the blessing, he didn’t even try to tell her it was wrong because deep down he wanted the blessing. That makes him deceiving.
Jacob's name is from F the Hebrew Ya'aqov one of the meanings is to supplant. Which is'sup·plant sə-ˈplant. 1. : to take the place of (another) especially by force or treachery. After Esau realised what Jacob did, he said this , Genesis 27:36 (ESV): 36 Esau said, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has cheated me these two times. He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing.” Giving credence to what Jacob's name stands for. There is another verse I came across in the Bible that to my recollection called Jacob a deciever but I can't find it anymore.

If what Jacob did was meant to be good why does god hate all the things Jacob did in that story. All the things Jacob did led to innocent blood being shed etc not in that story but in the long run. I think that one day god will reveal that he said what he said to Rebecca about them in the womb was for a reason. To be honest. To not try and be more important than another. A lot of meanings for things can come out of that story if you understand it.
