Beautiful Stage Series Washburn. Incredible top. Too bad that the wood block couldn't be a little more matching (or somehow else obscured from view). I have the A20 reissue with a red flamed top and someone put a Floyd Rose II on it. People complain about that Floyd model but it works like a charm. I am watching your video because I just got a 1982 Dean baby Z with the Kahler 2200 on it, Need to learn what that puppy is all about. It's my first Kahler, other than the Kahler "Killer" on my Peavy Vandenburg but it's not the same animal at all. I don't know why Kahler get so much hate. As far as I can tell, they are superior to Floyds in almost every way.
The wood block! Yes it’s kind of my Franken 20 😂 but it plays and sounds amazing. Refret a couple years ago. I have Kahler and Floyd Rose. I favor the Kahler. Kahler is superior in my opinion but I really love the Floyd Rose as well. So I’m not disrespecting the FR it’s just a different animal. Good luck on your project . Just take your time. Thank you for watching. Of course please like and subscribe. A-20’s are amazing!
Mines a ‘99. Deer jumped out and caught me. Destroyed all of right cluster and some of the grill. Your video looks a LOT like what I am experiencing. Thx for the time. I’m gonna’ try it.
Cool. Hopefully this video helps. My memory is that an auto place told my wife that a lot more parts would be needed to fix it. I think that’s what took me the longest, was convincing myself to buy the part and just try it.
@@witchfindergeneral13 ExACTly where I am right now. Your video and this conversation helped me turn that corner. The deer hit totaled the Explorer. Over $3k to repair including straightening the right fender a little. Vehicle books for about $2900. So I took the $2682 cheque and am keeping the car. It also needs a replacement front grill piece, which is a major cost on paper. I’m just gonna Gorilla glue those big cracks. Thx for your time.
Are you referring to the shiny metal of the cap bomb? The old ones were flat gray. I guess that could have been from being out in the elements. Thank you for watching.
Well, this is both simple and complicated. The simple answer is NAPA auto parts. The complicated answer is that at the time of this video it was recommended to me to use plastic safe White Lithium grease. Turns out that if you look it up some will say not to use it on plastic. Then others say it’s safe for plastic. Others recommended silicone for plastic. Sorry about this confusion but that’s why I just put “plastic safe white grease.” Do your research to be safe is what I recommend. And if you find a suitable white grease for plastic please post it here. Thank you for your question and for watching the video. Richard
It’s a special pickup made to resemble the pickup in Edward Van Halen’s Bumblebee guitar from pictures on Van Halen II. Although he didn’t use it to record the album. It’s made by Jalen guitar and it’s an amazing pickup. It turned this guitar into a tone monster. Here is a link. www.ebay.com/itm/401918489956
I've got an A10v that I'm converting to better trem. I was going to use a Floyd Rose Original, but you've got me thinking about a Kahler now and blocking up the spring cavity in the back with a block of ash. A trem and that sustain is a hell of a combo. I reckon it's blocking up that cavity that got you that big boost in tone and sustain you talked about. Oh and that fret job looks perfect!
If it was my A-10 I would do that It’s crazy because I don’t even know what kind of wood I used to block it. It was just a random piece of wood laying around in the garage.
DON'T KNOW WHY THEY ARE CALLED NOSTALGIA. NOTHING ABOUT THEM IS OTHER THAN THE ENGINES LOOK SIMULAR, AND THEY ARE IN FRONT. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ROLL CAGES (FOR SAFTY REASONS), THEY SHOULD LOOK THE SAME AS IN THE 60'S. THEY JUST DON'T BRING BACK THE MEMORIES. THE FUNNY CARS LOOK MORE NOSTALGIC, BUT THEY ARE WAY OFF THE MARK TOO.
I suggest you go to the track and witness it live. I’m not a fan of comments criticizing the hard work that has gone into building and maintaining a NTF dragster. There are 1960’s videos on RU-vid watch those. And, when you’re done building your own NTF dragster following all the rules and regulations bring it to the track and put some nitro in it and see what happens. I would be curious to see what it looks like.
@@witchfindergeneral13 YOU ACT LIKE I ATTACKED YOU PERSONALLY, WHEN ALL I SAID IS THAT THEY DON'T EVEN LOOK RETRO. ALL THEY ARE IS MODERN, FRONT ENGINE DRAGSTERS....PERIOD !
@@Dodger0103 I mean, front-engine dragsters are SUPER dangerous, haha! But maybe some sort of cacklefest-y nostalgia class? Fuel altereds and early style rear engine dragsters?
Well, the quick answer is no. 😂 I love the tone out of the VH cab. The long answer is: I probably have been unconsciously because I played through it at a fairly tame volume for quite awhile. And when recording I cranked it through a 4x12 Marshall Cabinet I’ve had since 1982. I did have some issues when the VH cabinet first arrived and I ended up getting another one. I have another video on that. Let me grab a link for you.
Here is a link to the video where I try to troubleshoot ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7d8cTwucYP0.html Sweetwater was amazing during this process. I ended up keeping the original head they sent. But I sent the first cabinet back and received another which worked great.
Here is the video of the results after troubleshooting was complete and resolved. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Vgao5wlgcE.html I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@@witchfindergeneral13 hey i was wondering how the ideal tcr mk3 chassis cars does on the tyco tcr track, i'm trying different cars now to see what woks best. i appreciate any information you can give me. thanks Kevin
hey i like your video, i had tcr race track as a kid in the 70's, just getting back into it, bought me some used tcr cars i'm learning alot watching your videos. thanks so much!
That’s nice to hear. I’m sure you are going to have fun. I’m no expert so do some of your own research. I made these videos on the fly as I had never done this. If I had known these things as a kid I would have probably enjoyed it even more. Some of the other videos I have explain other things even if the cars are different. I learned from others about this stuff. Like I said Have fun! It took me back to some wonderful memories and made some cool new ones. Thank you for watching.
I’m not sure I know the answer. I’m going to guess and say, there might be anything from Rules for the class, the design they are running is the most aerodynamic,?, Safety Your guess is as good as mine. Thank you for watching.
No it isn't. A10 is set neck. This one's neck through. It was Yamaki and Matsumoku who made them. What arrogance to correct the original owner about what guitar he bought!
Yeah, WCR - you've been a fine guiide so far on my (harrowing!) (heh, j/k) build. Hope you don't mind this could be one of a number of pesterings, as I tackle The ole Sizz.... I tried to see how you connected the tubing to the water cooler, at 0:13, requiring a longie (black), but couldn't quite get a full enough view of that pesky little box, up near the front of the chassis. There aren't any pins for tubing on the dumb thing - just two tiny holes, on top of it, that are WAY too tiny snd shallow to recieve tubing. Am I gonna have to just bore out those "holes" and just stick the damned tubing in them? Your sage thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated.😀
Well, this won’t help you but I’ll share with you. It appears that I didn’t connect my lines yet. I had forgotten this. The reason is that I shape them carefully using a source of heat to bend the lines. In past when I didn’t shape the lines they would dry out and break off the plastic tabs on the fuel pump.
I believe the tubing goes into a small hole on the fuel cell. And I believe I mocked up the fuel cell in the chassis and marked it. I then put a very small amount of glue blots on the underside of the fuel cell gluing it to the chassis. Make sure you mock it up using the body panels for positioning before gluing. I hope I helped in some way. I took pictures but I can’t seem to paste them into the reply area.

Impressive - just picked up this kit, and will be using your great video as a template as I go along. Thank-you for that! Um.....your choice of soundtrack, however....um... (XD - all good.)
I’m excited for you on your new build. Have fun. I liked that the song was about atomic particles. And it was copyright free. I write my own music and perform it on my channel now. At the time I didn’t have the ability to get my own music in the video.

That "Nitro Bomber" Nova at 7:35 has a wonderful cackle and a bite to back up the bark - 263mph. Crazy ass Palmer; God bless him. If he could ever figure out a way to apply all the power that engine is capable of cranking out it might be the first doorslammer over 300mph.
Yes! I love Buzzy’s Bomber. It snap cackle pops! I love standing next to it! Just witnessing Palmer put his foot in the Studzilla is worth it! It would be sweet to see him make a full pass. I pretty much went through all the vehicles and track in that series of The Ideal TCR and I really had fun. I’ll get them out again for some more fun. I really wanted to do a series on the 1991-1993 Tyco TCR first before returning to the Ideal. I have been busy doing some music writing and recording. Please stay tuned though. I will do some more slotless and hopefully some slot car video’s in the near future.
Van Halen led the way to all the others. First heard them on the movie Over the Edge with Matt Dillon and that sound track sent me on a different musical path for sure.
Got to strand next to that car in 1973 as it launched down the 1/4 mile in Victoria TX. I stole the Hot Rod magazine from the school library that featured it on the cover. Great!
Hello Anthony, I don't know who Bill is. The Mr. Russell featured in this video is Mr. Burnell Russell. He is the father of Top Fuel driver Darrell Russell. Darrell passed away in 2004. Burnell's son Chris Russell surprised his dad with a ride in Larry Dixon Jr's Top Fuel 2 seater. Burnell had no idea he was going until a couple hours before the ride. I don't know what Burnell's fathers name is.
@@witchfindergeneral13 Hey Youre welcome.. Listen, im not saying this to be sarcastic or offensive, im being serious.. If you got serious and got yourself back into shape? You would still look alot like you did in that picture! AND! you would be inspired to make some new music and start kicking musical ass again! : ) I can help! if you would like?
Thank you. It was a fun project to do and also therapeutic. A nod to a childhood hero Edward Van Halen but also a tribute to a very special friend Greg. He signed the back of the headstock for me right before he passed away. I started the mod on the Black & Gold when he fell ill. He was a guitar nut encouraging me to buy the cheap guitars and modify them. So it's a special guitar for me. I affectionately call it the Gold Gargantua after the movie War of the Gargantua's.
I would have left as is, I just need a round smooth surface. Realistically roller is overrated, how much do they really roll, 180 degrees, 90, 45, 20, 10? Your lucky if it even moves 2 degrees. What I do like is that guitar.
Yes, you're probably correct but it's fun to experiment. I was thinking along the lines of a Kahler tremolo with the roller thing. I'm going to keep tweaking. The darn guitars sound really good. And they are inexpensive. It's fun.
@@witchfindergeneral13e root cause is the location where the string bends at the bridge plate and having very deep drilled holes in the sustain block. A guy on RU-vid modified his plate and it is perfect also the Gotoh FST style tremolo also does this. You might get away with it if you find a way to drill the bridge plate holes in a manner to round them over. If the nut was the real problem like every knucklehead claims every strat would be in perfect tune. I am an engineer so I know the bridge is the real up issues. Your mind was in the right place. Last thought you might try drilling a countersink on the bridge plate and see what that does. The guy on RU-vid is Jay Menon. Easiest fix but not cheap….Wilkinson locking saddles.
Hello, There is another option depending on your neck and bridge requirements. The rollers in the video fit my Chinese made Strat copy but the bridge is smaller width wise. I purchased some higher quality rollers but they where too wide as they were for a standard Strat style bridge width. MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE YOUR BRIDGE WIDTH.
