Hard to compromise about the box but I get it and think it's smart to offer the option.. I think it's more important to get people the pedals and that part of the experience will still land / stay with them. Maybe you could hand write a note or certificate or something as a personal touch.
As you know I love Digi/DOD, but I was feeling sad that Spiral was laying fallow. So for me this is terrific news! I believe that you have made the right choice!
we need the box! damn the cost spiral is so freeking amazing if your buying it the 20 bucks don’t make a difference the only thing that would make it better is if you got that money too! You’re a living legend in my book! I think you need a place in the order form for a tip! There are few places on earth that deserve my hard earned money more than Spiral. How many cool riffs out there would just be meh without your contributions! Happy Independence Day Sir!
It's a little darker than I expected, it's a good balance to the Vox though. Between the two I have a pretty good idea of what I'm working on will sound like for a wide range of amps.
Hi Tom, thanks for the update vid. Info sharing is key. Congrats on the improved working environment and newer shop space. I have about 100 pedals and some are quite lovely. The 'Rogue Custom Yellow Spiral' I have is one of the very Best ones. The switchable tonal choices and the radial girth selector makes this pedal amazingly controllable and other fuzzes not needed. Such an important part of my stacks.
I would love to hear a comparison between the original and red mod on bass. Just something to show the difference between the silicon and germanium diodes. (Of course... what if... a *mega* Demhe that had all three?)
Tom I'm not following when you said it wasn't initializing - it sounds and appears to work how I'd expect - it sounded like the rubberneck feature was set pretty fast and clock wise, were you expecting it to behave differently? Great pedal. Not only is it amazing to hear and play but there is a tactile fun factor about using the large knobs and the foot switch functions - there is a flow to using the design that many things can't achieve despite having the right pieces on paper, this has that magic flow that begs you to play and tweak.
This was a video I did for someone who was using an underpowered PSU and his RN was initializing incorrectly. I was showing how it is supposed to work so they could compare theirs to mine.

What are the advantages and benefits using Nanolog devices instead of using transistors, didoes, FETs? I'm confused what does the deposited carbon do to the clipping effect?
It had (Nanolog is now out of business unfortunately) a quick clean-up and Germanium-like envelope that I dug, but without Germanium’s volume loss. I still use transistors, diodes, and FET’s, the N2 was just another arrow in the clipping quiver.
@@crammojophilter Thats to bad that Nanolog went out of business because I thought u would make a tube screamer version using Nanolog chips because it has a different clipping quiver effect? and very sensitive envelope dynamic range? The new origin effects just came out with their 808 tube screamers which had an Adaptive mode which not only envelopes the dynamics but also changes the response of the tube screamer by adapting so it sounds like an old fender 50s tweed amp had a large dynmaic range from uV to mV which are very rare for overdrive pedals to have on the front end stage. Check out the origin effects 808.
