@@StarLightDotPhotos Rex always gets the leftovers if there’s not enough for another meal and its healthy enough for him. In this case, we had like 20 meals from it so he got to lick the plates and we left a little on there for him.
I do tourism videos, like to monuments, on a gimbal... So I want something better than the 15mm and wider for that landscape shoots, but CA and softness are not of my taste. Better to find some old Zeiss za 15mm ef mount?
Thanks Scott for making this. I know we started this conversation on Vahagan Livestream and I’m glad you made a video because I think most people that should Nikon have no clue about how to expose correctly for the different skin tones shooting N RAW. Thank you again keep up the great work.
switched over from sony and never regretted... z8 is a beast and all the Z "S" lenses are great.. cant do anything wrong with it.. especially with high class lenses like 85mm 1.2 - dream come true!
I've never owned Nikon cameras before this year. I bought my very Nikon, the Zf earlier this year and was very impressed. That led me to pick up the Z8 for the high performance. I agree that this is one of the most convoluted menu systems I've ever used( I own various brands). Menus are very thorough and offer a great deal of control but they are just all over the place! These are very good cameras but Nikon needs to completely over haul their menus guided by actual photographers and videographers.
BM cameras have no OLPF - gives a cheap sharpening effect to every frame - also the subtlety of color gradations is crap - also highlight fall-off is harsh as all heck. Yuk.
On an Accsoon Cineview, feeding a recent iPad, delay is less than most monitors fed directly by a cable (<50ms). Blows Vaxis and Hollyland away - simply better tech.
Totally agree with you on the menu system. It’s so easy to get lost and forget what you are trying to set/change. Especially in the field. If you are in the middle of a shoot, forget it. 😂
I shot video of a bird feeding its baby on a vertical /portrait orientation. but on the video editing software davinci resolve/ capcut it appear vertical video on a landscape frame> needed to have the frame as I shot them. But I could not figure out how to do that. The I actually cropped thy frame to have what I needed but I couldn't quite get as I shot them. Please give me a tips to resolve the issue.
Surely you understand that this was by design and that there are $75,000 lenses that exhibit the identical behavior shot on 100’s of movies right? And, this is desirable by some DPs in various styles of movies.
Sigma Prime lenses contain light substantially better than Tokina prime lenses. Tokina handles light so bad that the bloom from direct light distorts faces with a milky mess. Now some may like that look but it's really distracting to say the least and other cine lenses don't do that it's only Tokina primes. It's super annoying 😅 but hey maybe they want that as there signature
Beautiful Scott ! I was wondering what mode you set the camera on for the Timelapse ? I saw a video couple years ago where a guy used P mode so it was controlling all 3 settings prioritizing shutter first then aperture and finally iso . Or do you have a better way to control from light to dark or vice versa . Thanks 😊
@@ScottBalkum social media consumerism and everyone being their own salesman has exacerbated it exponentially, people by what they’re told by people they think are their peers who are actually themselves just trying to make a buck, some might genuinely like the products they sell but theirs an inherent bias if you’re getting paid, so people get herded into the brand with the most ambassadors that seem genuine.
Rechargeable internal batteries are just a joke in a prosumer/professional product. Means the product has a guaranteed life span when the battery inevitably degrades. Also means, it dies during your shoot? It's just game over for shooting that day. (Even if the battery life is enough for 12 hours or whatever when brand new, after 4 years?) But the internal recording (finally, yay UK, we get something the US doesn't 😂) is a fantastic feature and nice to see it on a proper UHF wireless system. Only takes one shoot with crowded UHF channels to really wish you had one!
Apologies if this is a simple question, but this product doesn't use internal rechargeable batteries does it? You can use regular AAs? Just asking as I'm looking at getting the set, and agree with you - I would much prefer not to deal with internal batteries
@@ScottBalkum That’s not bad. Have ya done any stills tests for batteries? Like take it out for an average day of shooting and see how good the battery life is?
Have you tried the Sony A9III? That’s a camera I underestimated. However, after shooting with it for awhile, I can honestly say it maybe Sony’s best video camera, save for ports.
