Afternoon John, just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to Bilt Hamber, like the touchless prewash is like Wow. You're channel is educating me so much at keeping my car healthy and clean. Keep it up 🧡
Jon if you like beadcoat then you need to try siramik lustrous plus graphene spray sealant in comparison! I don’t think anything beats it in the spray on wipe off category..
John I'm really concerned about your diminished Gyeon shelf.. It was so awesome - full of their products, did you hide them in the Gyeon cupboard? Or did you just got rid of them? I'm wandering if the company is still in high regard by you :) Cheers, oh and God I hate shorts on yt, it's like cancer.
@@forensicunplugged4295 Thank god :) I really like Gyeon - but they recently change the packaging and was wondering if the formulations changed and maybe your opinion with it, cheers!
Looking forward to the Rinseless wash shootout, waiting to try gyeon eco wash , eventhough it’s been available all around Europe for over two months, and still no sign of it in the uk yet!
Ive tried a couple of ceramic shampoos and just cant get on with them. Feels like I’m washing the car with plain water. No suds or slickness. But, they do definitely add something too the paint which is noticeable when rinsing off. But not much fun to use.
well checkout lab unlimited uk "burkle" 5 litre or 10 litre jerry cans with compact spigot option. bonus elite points if you get the breathable cap lids so you dont have to open top cap to drain.
With the exhaust, be carefully you don’t get one that drones, I had a few different exhausts on my 328 and it was terrible on a journey… never did find a solution and it was the main decider to sell the car in the end.
Having gone down the rabbit hole of these ceramic washes, I found they are not anywhere near as good at cleaning as a plane shampoo and are expensive…. Its better to just use a plane shampoo and then something like a ceramic / hydrophobic drying aid. Works out cheaper and a better user experience.

I made a decision to put more time into Rinseless washing this year as the idea of a quicker wash was appealing, I knew I’d struggle with it a bit as I’m sold on a proper prewash being key to a good wash process, To my surprise though, I think hybrid washing (Touch-Less followed by Rinseless) could possibly become my new go to, having the option to dry as you go is great, especially in the summer. Armour Detail Supply Hero is my current Rinseless of choice, If you’ve not tried a hybrid wash you should give it a go.
FWIW I don't bother with the RU-vid shorts, yours included. I find most of them utterly pointless. Maybe keep shorts for announcements on upcoming content? I much prefer the longer format vids, 20 mins is perfect (for me, at least).
i literally loose all faith in humanity when I watch short format stuff, I detest them with a passion as well. but a big chunk of the you tube audience is there now :(
Jon only does shorts for the RU-vid algorithm promotion. Otherwise I don’t think Jon likes it either. It’s a PITA. Just like doing colour snow foam is a pain. Jon only does it for the views and to promote the channel.
I didn't mean to sound negative, I get how the algorithm works. But as I said above, why not turn it around and make the shorts useful? Upcoming announcements are perfect and far more useful than cut up versions of videos we've already seen. The channel will continue to grow with entertaining, useful content and that includes the shorts.
@@Rob.Coleman How many announcements can Jon make though? RU-vid has become about quantity instead of quality now. The shorts concept is so ridiculously regressive and stupid. Way too much emphasis has been put on it and quality content producers are being squeezed out. It’s a lot of work to try make teasers of upcoming videos into a 60 second clip for instance. Put that on top of making and editing the actual video…there’s a limit.
done mate on main channel. I think the chem guys basic original hex logic are good starting pad for beginner purly because they are soft and less prone to machine marring.
@forensicunplugged4295 it's obvious Flex is a sponsor BTW. Seriously though, some plasterboard on the ceiling (few extra beams needed for load) and rock wool insulation, would do wonders for the lighting and improve video quality. Could also try 9mm osb board. Painted matt white.
@@jcoul1sc you would think Flex were a sponser but no they are not. Rupes are but Flex no. I dont think Flex really get social media Im a massive fan of their tools but they have zero interest in the channel or sponsoring content. I reckon Ive prolly indirected sold them millions of pounds worth of tools as well with all the videos I use them in. hey ho...
@forensicunplugged4295 Flex prob don't care about UK. Maybe time to copy Jonathan Katz Moses and spray paint non sponsors white. Really like your approach to the chems
I would be interested in hearing some opinions on the new garage therapy demineralisation shampoo I got a bottle to try a few weeks back only done one wash so far. Not seen anyone do a review yet
from what ive seen all these 1:254 rinseless concentrates are pretty much the same. everytime a new one comes out, people say its slicker or its better etc.. and I dont think theres any difference. but my interest wants to dive into it a bit deeper.
ONR is now on v5 which also claims to be slicker. I haven't tried it yet, would be good if you use the latest v5 in your comparison. @@forensicunplugged4295
@@forensicunplugged4295 Always waiting for a blind test where you don't know which is which and then say which is slickest or cleanest. Even more interesting would be to do this test a few times and see if the same one was always chosen.
yer so much choice, so many brands, most of it is well formulated, similiar price. but I think cream de la cream still exists and every now and then you find the odd gem.
90s and early 2000s cars are always going to be my favourite era in terms of design, build quality and fun. I own a classic shape Impreza and it gets more looks than any of the dreary pop and bang VAG crew do. An analogue feeling car that relies on you to drive it well and keep it on the road is something I will want, all the modern tech is just another thing to go wrong. There are obviously some exceptions to the rule, I like the GR Yaris for instance as it shouts out to a bygone era of cars that simply don’t exist any more. Keep them alive, keep them happy and you won’t be disappointed 👍
First thing I do when I get in the wife's car is to turn off that lane departure system thing, does my head in pulling on the steering wheel, keep up the great content 👌 John 😊
If you use your indicators in a new car the lane assist doesn’t tug at the steering wheel and the latest systems hardly ever get confused by lines on the roads, no more than the occasional camber pull older cars can suffer tugging at the wheel. People who complain about lane assist are not using it properly and being lazy, one hand on the wheel, distracted and not using their indicators 🤷 Considering most people have a very poor driving standard and level of concentration I will put up with the odd niggle of these modern driver assist systems as they ultimately will save a lot of accidents from dangerous or inadvertently lane changes or rear end crashes… plus radar cruise when used properly is a god send in traffic… we have all seen drivers who just cannot stay concentrated on just driving and their speed is all over the place.
"If you use your indicators..." BMW driver here mate. All that tech is for a different type of person.. not saying better person or worse person. But I aint one of them thats for sure, never will be.
The UK car market has been driven by cheap financing and lease deals, thats changed, people are now looking for options including interesting used etc insurance has had a massive effect on the high end and performance car market.
yer this is why I got rid of the M4. I could afford to keep it but I dont like being robbed. one year pay 600 quid insurence next years like a grand. next year will be like 1500 quid. I really enjoyed phoning the insurer to cancel. I pay like 200 quid insurence for the e36 and not much more for the porsche. both cars are appreciating as well.
The Vaders would lift the interior… get some in any colour and paint them, you would probably have to do that with beige ones anyway, leather condition is more important than colour.
The overheating could be a thermostat, but from my experience it leads to a headgasket; mainly on cheaper cars albeit. Having said that my old clapped out E34 535 I had years ago was displaying very similar symptoms to this and I bled the cooling system which helped. I got rid fairly shortly afterwards, so whether it was a full fix I will never know. Edit: if it has a viscous fan, I remember they are prone to failure. So, yes, that's another possibilty. I paused to write the above before you carried on talking about the fan lol
I had a 2.0 TDI Alhambra and didn't notice on the test drive that the heating was on full blast. Bought the car, drove it home, and on the way realised. Turned the temp down and the car started overheating. Turns out it was the head gasket gone. So that sucked.
Hi John, as a fellow E36 owner on the positive they are going up in value. Things to check regarding your higher temperature is the viscose fan clutch, with the engine off if you try to spin the fan it should only turn about a quarter of a turn and stop, if it keeps spinning it has lost its oil and will need replacing. Another problem is the electric aux fan have a tendency to seize up, does it spin when you turn the ac on, if not can you can spin it by hand through the bumper. As for the low idle and if it also feels down on power they can have problems with the cam shaft sensor going bad, but only fit genuine sensors. Hope it helps 👍
@@forensicunplugged4295 That's good, sounds like it has got the resistance when you try to spin it. The next thing would be the electric aux fan behind the front bumper. Should come on with ac, but also there is a two speed switch that's plugged into the side of the radiator, you can unplug it and bridge the connection to check the fan is spinning.
I really liked this video Jon. I echo your feelings 100%. I had an E36 328i coupe in Boston Green, with minor tuning to about 230bhp, M50 manifold, Simota carbon induction kit (preferred it over the Dave F which everyone seemed to be getting). I loved the car, and it was just enough power to be fun, it handled well but progressively let go, so it was very safe, and obviously they look bloody brilliant. I kind of feel the same way about my OG M2, it's got just the right amount of power for the grip available, it handles fantastically, and when it lets go, it's fairly easy to catch. I should have kept it (the E36), but I was doing a lot of mountain biking at the time, and doing mega mileage over the UK every weekend, and decided a 320d E91 touring was the better option, and for that job it was. I don't bike anymore, and I'm back into a fun car again. The rear arches were just starting to bubble on the E36, and even though it was pretty immaculate, I know it needed work, so sold it. I was pretty gutted to see it back on sale 6 months later, advertised as a 'drift toy', with a welded diff, and battered front cover, arches, etc, it had obviously been ragged to death. Mine had the clutch delay valve removed, massive improvement to the clutch feel, and I had ambers on it (prefer them to clears). Mine had the none Nikasil block too, argh I'm going to have to stop thinking about it !
@@forensicunplugged4295 Yes I think so Jon. The newer M cars are all fantastic, like your M4C, but for me personally a bit too big, heavy, and don't really have that connection with the 90's M cars.
I've gone through a few BMWs, most notable was my E46 325CI M sport. Topaz blue which the paintwork chipped and marked easily. I used to use Zmöl wax on that car, the best liquid polish wax around at the time. It was a money pit. Thermostat, and few other bits that I fail to remember. Sold it with a 6K loss. Nice car but they are notoriously crash in price, nobody has ever made money on one. It's for the love. Although, I wouldn't own another one. I'm into my Jap stuff currently. Although I do fancy a 911 carrera T with an areo kit. I quite like the new FL5 Type R in Sonic grey. Choices Choices.
Check thermostat and/or water pump, make sure you have a metal version impeller water pump if you haven't already! Could be broken heater valve or air in the system, bitch to bleed these. Get a sniffer test done. Mod wise get a m50 manifold mod can get these to 230/240bhp.
My E39 M5 has turned more heads then any car I have ever had, I paid £9K many years ago but gets way more looks than my current Porsche, their is just something very special about the 3 & 5 series from back in the day, like you I put about £18K into my E39 since owning her it just becomes a love and a passion. Keep up the great work John, enjoying all the new work you are clearly putting in.
I had to contact AVA for a part and was really impressed by the customer service. Quick response. Exactly what I wanted. Not marking up their prices and full parts diagrams available online. Hope you feel better soon
