St John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church is a member of the Ruthenian Archeparchy of Pittsburgh and is located in the neighborhood of Four Mile Run (adjacent to Greenfield and Hazelwood).
I have enjoyed watching and listening to your beautiful sermons from Florida for the last three years, Father Miron. Thank you, and God Bless you and your family.
I have been to Our Lady of the Dormition Byzantine Catholic Church in Clarence, PA. The Divine Liturgy was entirely in English. There was no Iconstasis. Isn't that traditional in most Byzantine Churches?
I am Greek orthodox. Well if they follow the Byzantine rite and theology , an iconostasis is vital. The church you visited shows the worse affects of latininisation and bastardy of the tradition. Why we orthodox are bitterly critical of these forced unias . In fairness it must be said since Vatican 2 the Papacy has directed the eastern churches to return to their traditions and the Ukrainian catholic cathedral in central London is very orthodox in feeling with beautiful iconostasis in byzantine tradition and the most beautiful congregational singing. Some uniates as the Iraqi Chaldeans and Lebanese Marionites are so latinised as to see with difficulty any authentic eastern tradition.
This has brought back so many memories. As a member of this church from birth (1953) until age 17, I remember our Easter baskets being blessed by Father Bilock in the basement. The Christmas parties we had in the building beside the church. My favorite mass was the Easter mass when I was younger. It was so uplifting and joyful. Then it was changed to a slower more somber mass. Sorry to go on for so long but my mind is racing with memories. Thanks for reading.. 🤗
