Fantastic !!! So full of life, vigour and 'joie de vivre' - with such swing, they'd be flooding out of the cathedral aflame with the spirit of life....................
That is my favorite Middelschulte composition. It is an underappreciated masterpiece that needs to be heard more often. Love the counterpoint and there is no end to the amount of interesting music that it contains. You are it's master Brink! Thank you!
And ... very unfortunate for organists who do not choose to open their ears to new "tone pictures" such as the one we've heard here. However, this is somewhat understandable in that many of us, and I of course include myself, lack the physical (technical) gifts to bring out the subtle accents, telling silences and slight fluctuations in the rhythmic texture of a piece of this complexity. Mr. Bush has gotten beyond mere technical mastery and makes this music become real and sincere. Thanks for beautifully crafting another interpretation for us Brink!
First time I've ever heard this Dupré composition. Pretty amazing piece. Dame Gillian handled it like it was nothing to lose sleep over. Amazing performance.
the same way she plays Messiaen... and pretty much everything else... She's in my top 5 favorites of all time (that I know of...) Biggs, Durufle, Cochereau, Jeremy Filsell, Latry, Weir.... and NOT necessarily in that order...
