If you remove the rust, apply Hydrate 80, wait a few hours and apply epoxy primer, will the primer hold up well on hydrate 80? Or will the primer peel off? And is it reasonable to apply zinc in bolognichik + epoxy primer + tikkurila temadur 20 on hydrate 80? Or will zinc be unnecessary?
Happy to say as of yesterday I’m now a proud owner of one of the only 500 left in the uk. Silver like yours and diesel 😎. Needs a bit of work but currently absolutely loving the graft.
Looks like a great show mark and the weather was kind . Some beautiful VW on display, agree with you on the MK3 golf vr6 was stunning. Love that MK2 GTi engineering golf . One show I've never been to before, will have to keep a eye out for it next time.
I used Bilt Hamber when repairing the dreaded boot floor problem of my Z3 many many years ago. Before welding the cross section over the channel in the boot I sprayed the channel with Bilt Hamber cavity wax. I sold it soon after. 7 years later I came across the car and had a look underneath. The rear boot floor from underneath looked like it had never been driven in the wet. No rust, no separation of the boot floor (the welds probably did most of the work there), and I noticed that the underbody wax I used was still stuck all around the areas I had welded underneath. This is a car that was used on track days after I had sold it. I now have an S2000 and needed to see this video in order to be a little more thorough. So thank you for enhancing my knowledge about these products.
Thanks for watching. What happened with the Z3 is impressive but such is my trust in these products I’m not surprised (they never surprise me to be honest…they are that good) In a world of people waxing lyrical (bad pun) about products online these continue to just quietly perform and protect. I’m about to start looking at the underbody on my Rivage cabrio and these will be used exclusively (and I’ve tried others on my Defender to compare). Anyway, thanks for watching and for commenting. Good luck with the S2000 (lovely cars) and please do get involved…even if it’s not a dub 😀
Just normal non acidic alloy cleaner of choice. Garage Therapy wheel shampoo in my case. These ones do need a refurb as my wife attacked them with an acid cleaner many years ago and they’re etched but that will have to wait until budget allows I’m afraid
@@thegolfdiaries1123 im struggling to find someone to refurbish mine as the likes of the "wheel specialist" etc dont know how to finish them and get the shine etc
I guess it depends what you need an everyday car to do. Most of these now are high mileage and ‘well worn’ so if you need to punch in some serious mileage, maybe not ideal as it will start to fail on you. If it’s just local running around then why not? Parts will start to become hard to get in the coming few years and I know some Anniversary only items already are. I only used mine as an everyday car for a few months when it was brand new so it is difficult to comment with accuracy
currently about to start working on my 2002 cabrio (NA) had it for about 4 years, but as a student not much time to do proper work etc. had a 1991 for my first car my father gave me, loved it and how he built it (sold in 2019) so watching this video has given me drive to get into working on it!! limited experience working on cars so wish me luck haha
Good luck! To be honest I have very little mechanical know how as I only really know how to make them look good, not go well 😀 However I’m learning and happy to share whatever I learn with you along the way. I’ll be asking for help regularly I promise you. Anyway, enjoy your car and the process and just think how great it will feel to get it out on the road knowing you made it happen. Thanks for watching and please do join in. Cheers
Check out the original run round the car (old camera, old microphone - it shows!) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FWYr4jrcWKs.htmlsi=58sfJ0JwD_IQ2nmz
I've never had any success with Garage Therapy 'Two Sigma V2'; every time I've tried it on a panel the result has been difficult to remove 'smears'. I've used less, I've used more but, it always smears and has to be removed using another brand of QD or ceramic spray. I just don't understand it ...
It may be worth speaking to the guys at GT as they may be able to help you. Is it particularly fussy over a particular coating or sealant? Do you use pure shampoos or ones with protection added? It may not be playing nicely with them. Otherwise not sure. Worth dropping them a line on the Facebook GT discussion group
Great comparison and I have the GT and Gyeon quick detailers as well as sigma and cancoat. I'd agree with all your points but you lost me when saying 3cs last but it had been topped with sigma and quick detailer. 1st question is why? 2nd question is how do you know 3cs last that long if your seeing the behaviour of all the toppers?
Thanks for watching. 3CS on its own with no toppers tested for 2 years on my Caddy (as per my other video) lasted 6-7 months before beginning to slowly degrade and finally dying at 9-10 months. With toppers this will be extended so 10 months is easily doable…maybe more if topped. Upon letting Sigma die (about 6-7 weeks in my experience) there was still some proof of it being there. After that I simply stripped back and started again. As for why I topped it, it’s a detailing channel, I have to test things 😉 Plus as I said in this video, I love detailing so I find it enjoyable
@@Health-is-Wealth92 I can assure you they did not. All products were bought by me at full retail price. False allegations like this are unwarranted and very ill informed. Not to mention there are four different brands mentioned in this one video alone (so which one would pay for that?). I have never been paid for a video. Thanks for commenting.
Thanks for watching and for your kind feedback. Appreciated. I hope you’ll never find bias on this channel. Sure, I have favourites…GT quick detailed for one…but I’ll always test a new product with open mind and try to think of how it may work for daily’s and show cars alike. If I find a QD better thanGT I’ll openly say it and recommend it. Thanks again
I happened across your channel by chance and really enjoyed the comparison of a couple of brands that I have and do use fairly regularly. I am based near Glasgow and have Angelwax and Mitchell & King on my doorstep so I use a lot of their products as I am a wax guy but do like sealants on non family cars that I look after as a hobby in my retirement mainly in the colder months. I liked and subbed your channel and will look up your back catalogue. I have started to use Auto Finesse Triple overlaid with Gyeon Ceramic detailer on my door shuts to good effect. I have taken my GT products out of their retirement lately and if I was not such an avid wax collector I would probably use the GT range of CS, Sigma and QD as my go to regime. I look forward to your future content and the growth of your channel.
Thanks for watching and for your very kind words John. It is genuinely appreciated. Like you I am a wax guy at heart but have found the GT range just too good to ignore. They’re nice guys too so that makes it all the better in my opinion. Lots of other brands to test and I’ll always hold them up against GT for performance and value. As for the channel, thank you, I’m still learning and every new upload is made with the aim of being 1% better than the last one so we’ll get there! Thanks again and welcome to our small but growing community
I have been a GT customer from the start and I find it hard to choose between GT and Gyeon. If I had to pick one product that is better, it would be the Gyeon Ceramic Detailer, Sigma V2 is harder to apply I prefered V1. Gyeon PPF protect is nice product to apply and has great gloss and water behaviour but it is so expensive.
Thanks for watching Patrick and it’s hard to argue against either brand. Ceramic is great and one I’ll always have in the garage for the daily for sure. Nice for adding protection to door shuts etc really quickly too. Thanks again - appreciated
We are delighted and honoured that you enjoy our brand and products so much Mark. As we have discussed, it's important to use a system that works for you and that you enjoy. It looks like you found just that.
Cheers chaps. Very much so and it also helps me hold all products I test to a standard they need to meet in my eyes. Keep up the great work fellas. Thanks for watching
Interesting video mark, I've never tried any gyeon products yet . Might have to get some of there quick detailer and see how what it's like on my golf. Can never have enough gloss on a black car . Want to try the gyeon wet coat as well,as I do a bit of valeting at weekends. Think I've done every car on my road know lol 😀 . All my neighbours can't believe how clean my golf is considering it's age and mileage. Good luck with the golf cabriolet restoration. Had a MK2 golf 1.8GL before my GTi ,loved it and that was immaculate to.
Cheers James. Gyeon do make some cracking products and they’re worth a try out. The QD is a pleasure to use too. Your Golf is certainly well looked after and it’s a credit to you. Thanks for your support as always. Cheers
Nice to see a fresh delivery of GT products Mark on a side note grab yourself a Lav mic 🎤 for your camera you can set the screen time on the GOPRO 👍🏻🇬🇧
Cheers Paul. Got a lav mic and use it with the main camera so just need to learn how to set it up on the GoPro. Not sure I’ll use it much on this channel and keep it to the cycling and fitness channel. Horses for courses and all that. Thanks for watching
Not heard of p&s products before mark , might have to give the quick detailer a try . Like you I tend to use the garage therapy one . bought some of the new bilt hamber touchless snow foam from clean and shiny to try . will have to order some of the soft 99 glass sealant to try as well, using kill all wipers sealant at the moment. Look forward more content mark .
Thanks James. Much more coming. P&S are a mixed bag in my experience but all solid with some exceptional products. Like an American Autoglym in that respect I guess. Bead Maker is their best known product over here
Brilliant presentation covering all the questions you’d ask-just bought s50 for the chassis cavities & UC for under body panels & wheel arches - BUT bought 5ltr cans so do you know if you can put UC thro a 23:11 spray gun to get a fine thin coat like the small can?
Thanks for watching and the kind feedback. Appreciated. I’m not sure about the spray gun in all honesty as I’ve never tried it. In theory it should work fine though but may be best to drop Bilt Hamber an email. They are really quick to respond and very helpful. Good luck!
Just got a reply direct from BH a few minutes ago - answer is yes it can be sprayed thro’ a standard spray gun - thin with white spirit (start at 10% initiallly) until it atomises sufficiently. It will dry out to same ‘candle wax’ finish.
Definitely not as busy as last years show mark, great show all the same though. Thanks for showing my golf, it's not actually a anniversary model more of a homage to one . Have you had time to see the link of my audio system installation on pssound RU-vid channel mark, I've spent over £8000 so far and still not finished.
You’re welcome. It’s an absolute stunner. Credit to you. Thanks for watching and next time I see you at a show I’ll have to get a more detailed look at it (hopefully I’ll have a gimbal by then!)
How does the show compare to two years ago? Check out the video and find out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--rpPkAHHAFw.htmlsi=x1pYFbatpXZJLVRX
I'm a very big fan of garage therapy products mark , like you have always used bilt hamber auto foam or touchless snow foam .will have to give GT snow foam a try . Just coated my golf with soft99 fusso as I've always wanted to try it . Impressed how easy it was to apply and water behaviour is amazing.hope to see you at ultimate dubs mark ,my golf MK4 will be on display outside with the golf 1V owners club. Thanks James.
Fusso is great. I tend to use it on the Defender through winter. Planning to be there but no idea what time at the moment. I’ll look for you when I get there. May see you then. Thanks for watching as ever
Great video. I remember you doing that video many moons ago. Great that you have revisited it 2 years later. I am not a user of Garage Therapy products (no reason just not got round to it) but this video has definately sparked my interest. Great work.
That is a bit much. SGS seem to becoming one of those companies that raise their prices just to run regular sales. It will no doubt be on sale soon! But frustrating and not a practice I like
Thanks for watching. That’s the great thing about mods on cars…everyone has their own taste etc. I’m still not sold on the protector either in all honesty but kind of like the dials. All part of the fun I guess. Thanks again
