“The wheel lock key that I religiously put in the glove box has disappeared.” That’s where I’m at right now. Where the heck did that thing go? I would never have moved it.
Absolute genius mate. I took my nut off in less than 30 seconds. And now I have to remove another one. I am taking them all off. Thank you for a brilliant video. ❤❤❤
Great idea but don't do it unless you're sure. My wheel locking nuts have spinners on them so now because of this video I have a socket stuck to my wheel nut which just spins
Worked like a charm thank you for the tip. I did it in very cold weather so once I pounded the socket on I heated it with a torch between the socket onto the lug. Then I gave it a couple more hits with the sledge. This helped secure the socket better to the lug and loosen the lock lug easier...in the cold.
This works, the only thing different on mine was the locking nut had a steel collar ring on it to stop you from getting a socket on it.This is only made of thin weak metal so if you tap a straight screwdriver in-between it and the nut it will break up..then you can bang a socket on it.
I bought an expensive lug nut extractor socket set...the key lugs destroyed the socket...tried this and worked immediately. My 12 point socket was also ruined with this...but they are $8 on Amazon.
Wont work on dodge one the have ring around them that just spins if you try to do this i thought i had mine coming off then come to realize there was that ring that was spinning and it wasn't get lose
Not to long ago i took my car into quick fit to get a leaking tyre done, but then later fond out the locking wheel nut was so misshapen that there is no way they took the wheel off to fix it so must have bodged it for £25 but today when trying to get the same wheel off with the key, the key indent actually snapped off.
MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE A LOCKING NUT WITH A SPINNING BIT ON THE OUTSIDE! IT STUCK LIKE A CHARM BUT NOW IT JUST SPINS AROUND! NOT ONLY DO i NOT HAVE A LOCKING NUT REMOVER BUT NOW i HAVE A SOCKET RAMMED RIGHT INTO MY LOCKING NUT THAT IS JUST IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE!! BEEN HAMMERING IT FOR HOURS BACK AND FORTH AND IT JUST NOT BUDGED!
very flawed way of doing it, especially with the proper thatcham approved locks with spinner , if the socket gets stuck and just spins then you're in for the long haul to remove the socket and trust me, you will do damage to the wheel.
