Hey Smokey, been rewatching your “What Is…?” videos recently and got to the Ultimate Universe and I wanted to point out something. Wouldn’t the Spider-Man Vs. Sinister Six issues take place before Ultimates 2 because both Bruce Banner and Hank Pym are at the SHIELD base during this vidoe and with Ultimates 2 and what happens to both Hank and Bruce, wouldnt this mean that this video takes place before Ultimates 2? The point of Superman is that he's meant to represent the kindness in all of us. Sure, he has cosmic powers beyond comprehension, but we can all be as kind and compassionate as Superman. It's why I never liked the rising cynical popularity of "evil Supermen" like Homelander. It feels like a subversion for the sake of twisting a good thing meant to inspire hope instead of exploring different aspects of Superman. There are kind people equally as powerful as the jerks with power.
Me personally i don't think people REALLY want Superman to be a poe for the sake of it out of some bad character but because of how "vanilla" Superman is. He is the basic archetype of superhero, which also make him unrelatable to some. So people feel he lacks spice and they need to justify why he 'sucks' and try make him "edgier". There is common sentiment between the average media consumer that is like "why i would like this old thing when this new thing exists? just make the old thing like the new thing".
If you wanna see something like "Freddy Kruger as a super hero" thing for wolverine, I highly recommend wolverine issue 9 from the 80s, it's a issue about his past and it has is it mostly from the perspective of these group of bad guys being picked off by wolverine, it's basically a 80s slasher but wolverine.

I feel mixed about the Ultimate Comics. I HATE the unhinged nature of these characters that are NOT Ultimate Spider-Man. But as a 2000s Kid, I enjoy their comics for bringing something unique in the pages that is kind of a blueprint for modern superhero works, including the MCU.
Squadron Supreme jogged before The Authority could crawl…some Clockwork Orange themes, but imagine Henry Cavill as Hyperion. A Squadron Supreme film would hold more impact than Eternals.
