Reload just seems like the definitive way to experience the game with all the improvements to the gameplay and graphics. Even the music people say is worse just sounds great to me, and I say this as someone who beat FES.

There's a moment in FF3 that cannot be imitated in the DS or Pixel perfect edition. It's the moment when you go out the floating island for the first time. Due the lack of maps and Sight magic was limited only to a little zone, the first time I saw all the vast ocean, I felt anxious. I flew everywehre and I only saw water, water, water. I lost the track where the Floating island were. For the first time, desesperation roze in my mind playing a videogame. Luckily, I found the water temple afterwards, but I didn't know what to do. You could do nothing until you found Elle, the water maiden. This moment its very important for me, moment that it's imposible to feel again in modern versions were you have a whole map always.
I've been playing the PS3 port for the added content. Something about it felt off though. Now I think I got it, if dialogue is missing and incorrect. Nice video! Thanks for the comparisons. Makes me glad I still have the NGC version.
The ps1 port is awful. The music pauses before and after fights while the character just spins and loads. Each pre and post fight pause for loading lasts 5-10secs.
Dawn of Souls was my first experience with FF1 & FF2. I played so much FF1 but never figured out where to go back in the day. I barely touched FF2, it was just bad. I even played FF4 on GBA for the first time and.... I didn't like it either. I just enjoy FF1, FF3R, FF12, FF15, FFT, and FFTA the most.
The psp version removed the combo links between battle skills from the original, which is a huge let down to me. I feel so much fun when linking different skills together in the original.
I started playing these games after Lightning Returns was about 2-3 years past release date. I didn’t have a PS3 but my brother gave me his 360, so I bought the games for that. So glad I did! Even though they stand out like a sore thumb on my FF shelf, at least I can play them on my Xbox One S or Series X and know it’s backwards compatible AND the best console version.
When they changed the game they took the toughness out of their looks of the main characters and it should have been enhanced but still top down. Now it's no different than any 3rd person rpg. They could have still went 3d but with a view from above like the original. I just don't like the animations or the look or the stay in air crap for long periods of time to attack. Seems floaty appearing. Doesn't push the ps4 standard limits even on ps4 pro at max settings. Because they didn't spend the time to optimize the game because other games look 10 x better and still have good frame rates. Also with the new romhack you can 3 player the game now on snes like you could the first secret of mana. I prefer the snes music. Creates an atmosphere lost in the 3rd person remake. The camera shouldn't turn in any direction. Destroys the game. Not the remake i am looking for. This will take fans to make something proper.
I would dispute that, on most counts. How many RPG games have a generational aspect? Very few, I'd argue. Not to mention that you're playing as a part of an empire with resources, not just a band of heroes, which will bring forth its own differences during the main game. While some features or traits are common, others are and remain rather innovative.
I just got a copy for ds but the jp version because its cheaper and it's one of the few ds games (less than 10 games) that can change the language from jp to english in the menu
I think what’s really cool about Reload is that they got pretty much if not all Voice Actors from the original Persona 3 in Reload, but since the actors are much older they are voicing different characters (Officer Kurosawa is voiced by the original voice actor for Sanada) I think the VA who plays Elizabeth is the only one who did the same part
Just confirming now that yeah stream was impacting performance. The town I leave off hangs around in the 40's at max settings (Legacy upscaling, dynamic on) and around the 50's at the lowest
Still remember the unintended exploit in the sfc version. In the intro where they introduce Lanselot and co, you can walk Denam up the east side of the building, and throw a stone to back attack Warren. If it hits, you'll get 100xp and level up because they actually have them at a pretty absurd level in the original for that one map.
The only thing I preferred on both og and reload version is the Mass Destruction og version Other reload songs is good for me, especially Memories of You
Wish they used the original PS1 English voice acting in second story R. The PSP English voice acting just sounds weird to me. Maybe it’s cause I grew up playing the PS1 version 🤷🏻♂️
Totally not true i played the SNES version and had no bugs. No idea what hes talking about. I bought this game day 1 and never had any issue or bugs in the SNES american version.
