Before the DTMF (Dual-tone multi-frequency), the system that was used to communicate between the person who dial and the phone company that connect to the desired number, was by impulsions... the rotary dialer was doin 1 pulse for 1, 5 for 5, fand so on, except for the 0, it was 10 pulses,... So when DTMF arrived, the were also keeping the pulse system... until a few years ago.. But what was the pulses exactly, simple a very fast short of the line itself (1/4 sec max) per pulse, if you shorted the line for 1 or 2 seconds, it was the signal to hang up the line,.. So to dial any number without a keypad or even a rotary dial, all you needed to do, is release the hang up button, so line opens.. the dial the number by pressing the hang up button very fast at a steady rate, and pausing for less than 1 seconds between the numbers, you were able to dal to any places you want... 1 (215) 422 1291 is... click - click click - click click click click click - click click click click - click click click click- click click click click click click click click click - click... So, he never really impressed me... If you are good at something, you never get caught, and end up in jail... He is not a legend, the real ones that could be amazing legends remains unknown, that is how it is.. Pro are invisible...
