V:"Before, I was so bitter, so prideful, so closed off, afraid of being weak as she was lest I share her fate ,I suppose part of me feared that Dante was right to favor mankind and I was wrong to disdain them as weak and lacking in power due to their vulnerability but now I see even in this vulnerability there is a paradoxical kind of strength and enlightenment almost."
another wonderful video from you. The music surprised me a bit at first, it was something different, but it fit so well, so beautiful and sad at the same time. And again, the transitions between the individual scenes, the selection of the scenes, the text. I'm blown away by the brilliant work.
This is one of the best Devil May Cry videos I've seen so far. You did an insanely good job with it. The music, the scenes that fit the text, the transitions of the scenes. Smokin' sexy style!!
I didn't realize just how well these scenes could be strung together. That was practically seamless every time. Again with the Nero and Nico scene fitting way too well with timing. What the hell. Why is it so good?? The cuts from Nero doing his best sonic impression and V getting laser blasted were so smooth. I love it. The transition from the riot (I think it's the riot x.x) to Nero is really good too. Their animations are more similar than I realized. Nero's hand to the motorcycle too, they're both so mechanical looking that it works really well. Shadow jumping off the van leading into Dante was really creative, I like it. The part with Dante and Nico both driving around in rubble, if I hadn't played the game you could have convinced me that was happening at the same time in the same place. The flashes between Vergil in the garage and Vergil in the tree when he's cutting his little portal is cool too. And using the transition where Nero has the car halves flung at him to change from Dante cutting the cavalier (at least I think it's the cavalier)? That was awesome and fit way too well. Also with the Dante and Vergil face off including their human forms superimposed in the face off, that was cool. Great work.
I decided I had to check out your other DMC stuff and I'm not disappointed. Making a music video is hard, making a music video with only premade shots to choose from is harder. And to find enough for a song that lasts 9 whole minutes? That's dedication. So props to y'all for this masterpiece. That whole sequence with Nero and Nico in the van is so well timed I had to go back and watch it again several times cause I didn't believe the uncut sections fit as well as they did. Also really love that you didn't go the obvious route with "you want this power then come try and take it". The scene you used it with, to me, recontextualized the line to something way more heartbreaking, a plea rather than a challenge since that power is "all [he] ever wanted". Really good.
This is beautiful, and the edits are so clean too. Having the rock fall to cut at the drop off in the beginning was a great choice, especially after all those shots of the heroes' declines. Having Nero's face reflected in those "city lights" was also great. Using the sword to transition to the garage is awesome thematically and a cool visual transition. And the following shots of V are wonderfully timed. Showing the root decaying with the "stripped of our leaves" lyric made me chuckle a bit. Having V's lip flaps sync up with "ashes remain" was another great choice thematically given he's kinda disintegrating. And using the lyric about dreams to transition to the past was awesome. The cuts of V with the lyrics of passing seasons and the death of innocence is another great thematic choice, really fitting for his character and his story. The smooth transition of V and then Dante placing a hand on Nero's shoulder is so good. The final shots being essentially the fast-track of Vergil's part in all this is great but that final shot of V closing the book with the cut to it on Nico's dashboard is my favorite transition of the entire video. Amazing work dude.
