It's probably pretty comparable to LA, heat wise. It gets a little cooler near the lake and we are subjected to heavy fog every now and then since we are in a valley.
Also, you’re one of the only people I’ve seen who didn’t use a glue and water mixture so can you speak to how they held up since filming this. By the way, I love it thank you for sharing.
I LOVE the color and it’s exactly the color I want. So to be clear how exactly did you get that color because I know at one point part of it was more red, but the first part was more grey. How did you get more grey the first time by soaking so that I don’t have to go back over it with stain as you did. Also, any chance you could add a link to the paper product you used? I wouldn’t have guessed to by a reddish paper color to achieve this look.
Thank you so much Brittany! Yeah, I really like how the color turned out and it is still holding up very well to this day. I think that I just saturated the paper pieces more during the second part and didn't 'finger off' as much excess poly-stain because I was worried about how well they'd endure foot traffic with less protection. And that's how they got more gray. I could tell as I laid them down that they were more gray. You can get the RED ROSIN paper at any hardware store. I guess its normally used as a first layer protection for floors and roofing and is thicker and sturdier than the brown paper painter's rolls. It's about as thick as grocery bags without all the seams and glue. Good luck & please send a link if you make a video.
Love the floor!! How has it held up? I have concrete floors that were poured a month ago and am wanting to do the paper bag floor in the entire house (800sqft). I am wondering how well the sealer you chose worked. Is the sealer water-based? how long did you wait for the sealer to dry before applying the paper with glue? Any info would be helpful. Thank you
mina rosa-diaz Thank you so much! I am really loving the floor still. The quikrete sealer is water based. At this point it's been a while since I did the floor so i don't remember all the details. I probably let each of the 2 costs dry over night because we hadn't moved in yet, but the label says up to 2 hours.
mina rosa-diaz Also I used the water based stain & polyurethane instead of glue because I read somewhere that was the better option for concrete. So far it has worked out surprisingly great. The only problem I had was the edge next to the wall because of the dust from all the drywall that was tough to permanently remove. The paper didn't really want to stick to the floor. But that was resolved with baseboard and/or furniture.
MoTastic777 SWEET!! I got a roll of the rosin paper and regular brown. I’m going to do a combination of the wood planks and flagstone look. As I mentioned earlier, my concrete floor is unsealed. I have to prep it first then seal. I like your process and am happy to hear that after all this time it is still looking and holding up great. Thank you🙏🏽
mina rosa-diaz that sounds really nice. Maybe you can post a video and share your link so I can see your work. I'm definitely considering doing my other bathroom.
