YES! At least this American does...one of the reasons this is one of my favorite Xmas songs. The idea that there can be something that brings families together all over the world, religious or not.
It's easy: Just ignore the 'Theatre', and listen to his 'Themes'. IF you can keep up with his machine gun vocabulary (feel free to Google) and follow the logic, then welcome to, reasoning.
did i miss the part where our education system doesn't enforce religion? ha! yea, on paper it looks like there is separation of church and state, but we also have pursuit of happiness on paper and gay people can't marry (when it imposes on no one and has nothing to do with the homophobes) mkay
lol. i don't think the 'muricans understood the first part of the song where he said "a couple of G's, an R, and an E, and I and an N. just six little letters .etc" -- i really don't think they 'got it' xD but of course, they understood the ginger thing lol
Another plausible explanation as to why Americans are religious is the fact that unlike Europe, America has a high level of social and economic inequality. "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature"
Count me as one of Tim's fans who is also spiritual. It is good to have your beliefs challenged, and to be forced to think about what you believe is true. Funny, logical guy...what's not to like?
You understand that the joke is that even though Tim is playing a Fazioli he's so good that a high class instrument still isn't of a high enough standard to be on level with his talent.
Christmas for a lot of people is the chance to spend time with family. I'm an atheist and cherish the idea of Christmas, not the back story, but the westernisation of Christmas. It's a beautiful time where you can tell the people who will always be there for you that you love them and cherish them. I'm Australian, and I choose not to spend money on lights and glitz, but the "money" I spend is my love and appreciation for my family, who will always be there, no matter what.
Kindda really love how he was at first all careful with his phrasing for Prejudice: "cause 'dicking' with the 'G' word is just not on." ...and then just decides to go all balls-out with "FUCK the POOOOOOR!!" Zing. xP
The ubiquitous stuttering during interviews -does it further a notion he's for real or is it part of his act? Premeditated device (or lovable quirk) Tim?
That's very true... But in all the vids I've seen of Tim, there aren't that many where you actually see him crack up laughing, like he does over the whole "self-cleaning, like a vagina" comment. It was all pretty silly, but you can't tell he enjoyed it a lot more than some of the same-old interviews he does sometimes.
