Dear reader of this comment please take at heart the following words: THIS STUFF IS REAL. Three years ago I went into my personal 'dark night of the soul'. I broke down and nothing that I used to do to feel better (in hindsight coping mechanisms) worked. The book It Didn't Start With You by Mark Wolynn was advised to me. It helped me heal intergenerational trauma. My dad was a four year old when the Japanese Empire invaded his country and traumatised him to the very 'core'. I, in turn, identified with this trauma when I was 4 year's old myself. It's a bizar concept to say that a war was raging in me while I was never in a war myself, but when I healed I totally understood. This set me on a path of Somatic Experiencing, Breathwork, Polyvagal Theory and Attachment Theory and I healed some other serious stuff. I feel connected/attached, grounded and above all 'safe' now. I stress that I have become no Buddha. It's work in progress, because life is never without experiences and therefore it's a constant effort to regulate my nervous system, as it scans for safety and/or danger 24/7. But at least I have some good practices to create the capacity to recover faster. I see that I already used a lot of words so I will end with a quote from Dr. Peter Levine. 'Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence'
@@theperceptioncoach I can't even remember how long ago it started happening. Most recent change would be having my 2nd child in January but it was long before that when I started falling asleep. I thought maybe it was just what I needed (even if I manage to sleep I have super vivid dreams that make me feel like I've run marathons all night) and that's why it was happening but I couldn't afford to keep taking an hour+ when the original plan was 5-15 minutes. It doesn't usually happen with tapping meditation and I like tapping meditation but it's just not the same as "regular" meditation.
@@witchdragonfly2586 I get that having a little one is a big change in life, interesting that things changed before that. It sounds like 10-15 mins was working and then 1 hour meditation was to much. It’s really about finding the right balance for you! Big love ❤️
@@theperceptioncoach oh 😅 I was referring to the falling asleep part being the 1 hour. I would always fall asleep within the 5-15 minutes... When that started happening.
How do you know that rock bottom won't be the end of life? How do you know that turning your back on a loved one, will end up with that person growing, not dying? Many, many, many addicts die.
I don’t know what rock bottom means for someone else because that’s down to them, their life and their experience. I do know that with awareness it can be an opportunity to change, many addicts die and also many addicts turn things around and turn their suffering into purpose
@@theperceptioncoach So, since some addicts actually die at rock bottom, do you recommend withholding all support and turning your back on an addict, so that they can hit "rock bottom" and turn their life around? That is the only way to healing, being alone, homeless, hungry and cold is the only way to recovery?
@@theperceptioncoach If we give support, how will they hit "rock bottom?" How will they become lonely, homeless, hungry and ready for change? That is what people tell me, but I am unable to withhold support from my loved one.
Hey Jason, there’s a new webpage for the plan that has some more information in it with a frequently asked questions section. Offering some preview videos is something I could look into, thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks! I'll be making some philosophy ones soon. Check out this short video I made recently about meditation here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u55QeFIyr68.html
That sounds great! Is that something you're involved in? I currently volunteer for a charity that helps provide face to face support for people who are suicidal so don't get a lot of spare time, if I get chance in the future I'd love to contribute to that.
Great Video! Love all three of your tips, and the way they are related. It's not the classical get confident quick approach, that only lasts for a short time, but rea, long-lasting confidence tools you have there. Well done!
Great first video Jon! I can really relate to this, when you're talking about your passions and the research of all this stuff. Looking forward to see what kind of impact you will have ;)
