I would love to join your discord and get involved with your weekly flights however I get an invalid message when I try. Can you please advise what I need to do to join. many thanks, Kim
I found your review of the DOF Reality H3 Motion Platform very helpful. I have just taken the plunge and ordered the H3 but I am now researching a flight seat to attach to it. My Hobby room is 177cm in height (Flat Ceiling) and so I was wondering what the total height with the seat mounted onto the H3 is? Are you able to measure the height for me. Kind regards Mark

I wonder if this is the same crocodile that killed the NSW Dr this week. It’s the exact same spot where he was taken and the crocodile is the same size. Being that crocodiles are territorial, it’s a good chance this is the crocodile that owned that part of the waterway.

Well its August, and as of yet, no "sure thing" update or release date on the cogging fix solution. We must be getting close now surely! My money needs grabbing by DOF asap.
Keep the faith, its only been around the mth since the expo in Las Vegas where it was demonstrated...was said then that solution should be available b4 end of year
@@GunPilot Your right, i will certainly keep the faith. I really like DOF and its CEO, i smell honesty and integrity from them, which seems rare these days. Thats why i wouldn't ever go down the route of YAW3. I have little faith in them, and i suspect (could be wrong) that those yaws could be sat in homes, with no firmware updates and no support, because the companies gone bust or collapsed. I also dont like apparent the jerkyness of them. Great concept, and i hope they get it right, but for me, its dof H3. MSFS 2024 and a dof h3, Sweeet!!! Cheers bud, really enjoy your channel.
Great review!! Just purchased the P3 today. What did it take to build the base? I wished I would have seen your video before today. I did get the transportation wheel. Oh well, I did catch this video in time to know what to get while I waiting on this P3. Great video!!
Thanks for your well-organized review. I have two questions, each with some expansion: [1] How perceivable are latency effects? While I did not go to FlightSimExpo 2024, I did try a GA simulator on a Yaw2 at FlightSimExpo 2023 - the latency between what I saw and what I felt was annoying at best, and nauseating at worst. Somewhat akin to trying to play an electronic musical instrument with a 30-50 msec latency delay. [2] How does the combination of the rig with mechanics and limited travel, and the associated software, handle aerobatics like loops and rolls, and what do you feel at the pilot? I do fly a lot of aerial combat, so how the changes of forces through extended maneuvers and from one maneuver to the next is important to me. When you are at full deflection in one axis and you add even more force, there's no way that I can imagine that it can let you perceive the added force. Furthermore, ideally, the device should "recenter" after every sensation of force, but it should ideally do it so smoothly and so gradually that you as the pilot cannot feel that it is "returning to center." Thanks for your help and for passing on your experiences.
@@bonesdoc10 Gday Bones....a bit to unpack there so will keep answere very succinct....1. Do not experience latency.....in fact used to sometimes get a bit queazy in vr if really throwing plane around as say in aerobatics....now the H3 has totally eliminated that as everything in sync ( visuals and physical sensation of movement and orientation) so your brain is happy and not getting mixed signals from your eyes and ears 2. Aerobatic manouvres are amazing in H3, you really are immersed 3. Your last point is spot on....no motsim can provide continuous G force expeience, full stop.....but your brain is amazing as it fills in the blanks and keeps you fully immersed even though you are not actually experiencing a certain movement/ force.....for example when i roll upside down in vr, my brain actually makes me believe I am physically upside down, brain is amazing.....your recenter comment is spot on, in my videos you will see, especially in the roll axis that when I roll the H3 rolls and stays rolled until i level out or roll the other way....i do that just for effect in the video to showcase movement of H3....however, in SRS you have the option to set roll and pitch to either Angle or Rate....in video i have roll set to Angle but if you just change setting to Rate then H3 will roll left or right but then gradually recenter just as you were saying.........you get to choose.....pitch i always leave as Angle as say when looping i like being reclined fully back then feeling the snap fully forward when rolling over the top of loop and pointing down at ground......between the H3, VR, SRS Telemetry tuning, for each airraft or car, and your brain the experience is as real as you will get without really flying..hope this helps mate, are you close to moving up to motion simulation?
@@GunPilot it is a serious consideration, this motion simulator stuff, but money for such things is not currently present. As matter fact, replacing my 3070 graphics card will likely be the next purchase whenever Nvidia comes out with their 5000 series cards. After that, I would hope to replace my HP reverb G2 with something like Pimax crystal super. I am already using haptics via both a buttkicker clamped to my VolAirSim rig, as well as Andre's jetpad under my seat. I have differentially sent engine vibrations as well as landing gear and ground sensations to the butt kicker, while I keep other sensations such as flaps, canopy, guns, G-Force, turbulence, etc. through the JetPad. For me the VR was the most amazing thing, but the haptic feedback was also incredible, even when it just came to engine and airframe shaking especially for the World War II propeller driven fighter planes that I like to fly, as well as even the World War I planes in IL 2 which are absolutely amazingly fun as they are slow speed and super aerobatic. With respect to your H3 reentering itself, I remember that I saw two videos about a gentleman hired by SRS to write calibration or motion routines for the DOF reality hardware - the interviewer, who may have been the guy who does "get your game on", pointed out that the new software from SRS written by this gentleman was absolutely amazing when it came to smoothly linking one sensation to another. Sorry for another "long note to unpack!" By the way, another thing that keeps me from more strongly considering purchasing a motion rig is that I have yet to try one that improved my flight simulator experience. The only ones that I was able to try at FlightSimExpo in 2023 made things worse for me rather than better. I met a dentist there who has an H6 or even a P6 who lives in Atlanta, Georgia, but I have not made the contact afterwards to go up and visit him to try his rig.

I also have a H3 and I have had a fee issues. DOF was there and got me up and running each time. The support they provided was above and beyond anything I could have imagined. They have software that can diagnose most problems. They were always fast to respond to any questions . I was a bit nervous about purchasing something that was beyond my technical abilities from a company outside of the USA, but they have had my back since purchasing in March of 2023. I too had those same “holy crap” moments first with msfs 2020 then when I went to vr, but when I addef the motion platform, not only was it the largest holy crap moment, but as a licensed private pilot, it was reality, not cartoon reality but felt likw I was in the flight schools old PA28 with the crappy seats and there next to me was my instructor yelling more right rudder! The motion replicated the feeling in your seat, that instructors harp on with proper application of the rudder. That still blows me away every time I fly. The other feeling of fill throttle on a f16 amd the pushing back into the ssat os there too , not the g’s but you feel the acceleration. I would absolutely recommend DOF to anu vr pilot, it is the missing piece of the puzzle.

Gday mate....Yaw axis is a must for racing as it simulates the back end sliding out.........its also fairly essential for flying as you use rudder for takeoff to counter engine torque, and to slip into runway when on final approach id you have a strong crosswind component. Up to you which you choose, but for a few hundred more I would not be selling myself short....and this is one purchase you will never have any regrets with. And thanks for the video feedback, I use the H3 prob 95% of the time for flying (I'm a retired Commercial Pilot) but occasionally (as you can tell from my sloppy driving I don't race much🤣) I let loose with some car racing. Are you close to pulling the trigger or just at the tyre kicking stage re getting into Motion Simulation? The step up from flying in a static desk chair to the H3 is as big as moving from a flat screen display to VR.
@@GunPilot thanks for this exhaustive answer! I'll try to use my best English to answer... I fly with VR and static chair from next level racing and really want to jump into dynamic simulation. @@cyrilgpilot Gday Cyril....your English is spot on mate........if yu onlyhave a budget for the H2 then go for it....it is still a very immersive rig.....check out this review of the H2, he is fine without the third axis......and the stepping issue is NOT an issue for 99% of people, while it is there, your brain tunes it out very quickly.....and the new model no doubt will be more expensive as there will be more components in it....if price is important, and lets face it it is for most of us, then I would recommend going the H2, and upgrading it to a H3 down the track...thats the beauty of DOF R, the H2 and H3 are both upgradable...plus, don't forget, using my Promo Code will save you 5% of whatever you finally purchase. I also have a H3 motion rig, I've only been using it for 1 week so far. So you're using the H3 for nearly 6 hours a day? Is this not too stressful for the H version (as opposed to the P version)?
That WAS a big consideration I had to think about prior to going H model but now, after 11mths solid, and I mean very heavy use, it's still as good as the day I first jumped on it....initially for the first 3 mths was reguarly monitoring motor temps as a warm to hot motor is a good indication of an over stressed rig......never felt the motor temp above cool to touch......cannot praise the H model enough.....and the proof of its success is that it is by far the most ordered model from DOF R (as stated in recent interview with DOF R CEO)
G'day mate...thanks for the feedback, I just tell it as I see it......re your question, if you, like me, are going to use it mainly for MSFS then yaw is, in my opinion, a good to have axis in that without it you will not experience your aircraft yawing when doing a side slip on approach, or a crosswind cross controlled approach when trying to land with a crosswind component. That being said, yaw is of paramount importance if car racing as it gives you the full sensation of traction loss on rear end.
In Australia we have called chickens "chooks" since Moses was a boy....it's a deadset give away that someone is a city slicker if they call a chook a chicken

Great video, thank you! It has helped me understand this investment much better. Could you comment more sometime on H3 vs. P6 models if I'm planning to allow flight students to use it for "training" or "awareness" flights also (not licensed hours, but for experience) and also any advantage to H6/P6 vs. H3/P3? There don't seem to be a lot of advantages from what I can tell in flight sim (my preference) or racing sim setups?
Gday there Tim.......glad my review helped you in some small way....there is also now a 6 month review, and a short fun 4 min aerobatic formation clip i put together recently...in 2 mths time i will be doing a 1 year review, boy the time with the sim has just flown (pun intended😂) by....regarding h3 versus h6 for giving flight students the sensation of flight without actually sliding into the LHS seat, my thoughts are that the motsim would be invaluable in 1. being used to attract potential students to getting on board to learn to fly as it costs nothing for them to try in motsim versus having to shell out actual cash for a trial introductory flight 2. the motsim will deliver students a level of realism and immersion that can help in their handling of an aircraft, eg, if they do a hard landing the motsim will definitely give them a kick in the pants 3. students could hop into motsim and actually "fly" a navigation flight exercise b4 they actally go out and do the nav flight, increasing their confidence and assisting them to stay on track by spotting those landmarks along the way that will tell them if they are on track or not 4. being able to do a cross contrls approach in a stiff crosswind, or manage an engine out in a twin would be invaluable experience in a motsim...I certainly wish the msfs2020 sim, VR and the motsim was around when I started out on the journey to get my PPL then Commercial licence over 30 yers ago. Regarding h3 versus h6, going h6 gives you the extra heave, surge and sway motions. To me, if you can afford the extra outlay, go for the h6, but the h3 still definitely provides the stimuli for the brain to fill in the gaps for you to feel acceleration, deceleration and even some heave sensation.Sway, not so much in the h3 but then again you don't really experiece sway much at all in real inflight ops. Yaw id definitely their and in my opinion, having pith, roll nd sway do give you the full realism you would want. Regarding your question regarding Hero (H) versus Pro (P) models, the P model has a slightly more powerful motor set installed which will handle more sustained and lengthy sessions of use supposedly than the H models. This was a consideration I had to weigh up as I run msfs fying events every week and on average I am flying in the sim around 40 to 50 hrs each week, both planning new events, leading 3 hour flights, and just flying around having fun. I did not buy it for any other purpose other than flying but since getting it, I have also now got into car racing, but realitically I prob only do a couple of hours racing every other week. Anyway getting back to H or P, I was advised to g P due to the amount of use it would be put to. However, I took a pnt on the H and after nearly a year of very heavy usage just about every day, it is still performing as well as the very first time I jumped into it. In the first 3 mths I would reguarly feel the motor casing to see if the motors were heating up after long flying sessions eg 4-5 hours straight, and not once did they feel anything but cool to the touch. This is a good indication they are not being stressed or working to hard to keep up with long sessions, and I no longer even think about checking the motor temps.. But, having said all that, if money was no object, I would probably have purchsed a H6, but cost was a factor, s it is for most people so I went the H3, knowing that it is upradable to a H6 if I wanted to go that route down the track.....so far I am extremely happy with my H3 and have no plans to upgrade. Sorry if this reply is a bit long but I do love my H3 and just love talking about it to those who ask. Let me know what you finally decide, I would be honestly interested to know which model you go with and your decision process....cheers mate
@@GunPilot According to FEDEX tracking, the P3 should arrive about a week from now. I went with the P3 in case it gets heavier usage with others involved as well as I like a warmer room, so I hope it's a good investment. I'm looking forward to it arriving, but I'll only have two weeks and then heading overseas on a mission trip for 7 weeks. So, I'll be looking forward to moving forward upon return. Regarding the platform, did you use 2x4s and 3/4" plywood or something else? I'm not sure how strong the structure needs to be for it. Thanks again for the valuable insight.
