Referring to the intro quote, if the history is a false narrative and has been lied about in order to push an agenda then how is 1 supposed to remember it.
Fantastic video history lesson! Basic, short & simple. I'm fascinated with the beginning & evolution of this music I love so much! I came onto the scene in 1982 in San Antonio, so I missed this era. Bad Religion continues, in 2024, to draw large, often sold-out crowds to their concerts. Same with Circle Jerks, though on a smaller scale. Last time I saw them a few months ago Keith Morris said "next time you see the Circle Jerks it will be in support of a new album!" Even Black Flag is touring a lot. I dig their music & ignore their issues.
I dunno. Feels more concept album than rock opera to me. It's a fine line and maybe my definition is different, but in rock operas we hear all the characters sing from their points of view as the story moves along. "Idiot" seems to only be told from one perspective...And I still don't understand the story! Thanks for watching. I'd love to know your thoughts about what makes it a rock opera.
I think albums generally got longer around this time because CDs were the dominant format. Artists made longer albums simply because they could. True, that can be a good thing. I found that listening to "Nimrod" all in one shot was a lot to take in, but there really isn't a bad song on "Nimrod". Thanks for watching!

The biggest reason is because people weren’t paying attention to the music, they were too busy trying to figure out if Jayne then Wayne was a man or a woman & the critics came down harder on The Electric Chairs.

The thing is,Smash is the album that i can listen 24/7 while Dookie kind of 'special occasion' stuff n easy to get bored. Ixnay,Americana such an amazing n fun to listen...
Dookie had a ton of over played singles, so i get the boredom. I personally prefer Ignition to Smash . I loved the punk thrash metall vibe of the fast songs
I'd seen Conflict about 5 months before in November 86 in Swansea and they were superb. There was a bus and ticket meant to be going up from Swansea as seen on the ad at 1.20...for some reason it got pulled so landed up not going, maybe a bit lucky in hindsight!
