Maliasili Initiatives is a non-profit organization that supports the growth, development and performance of leading civil society organizations working to advance sustainable natural resource management practices in Africa. We do this primarily by partnering with leading local organizations in East Africa to provide tailored organizational development services, targeted bridge financing, and technical expertise. Here we share our own films, films by our partners, and films we've made together.

Thank you again to the whole Maliasili team for the impeccable organization of this event. It was really great to see so many participants. The diversity and interest of the participants were evident. For me, it was an excellent opportunity to to pitch our strategic plan concisely and effectively. Bringing together four complementary organizations truly enriched the discussions. A big bravo for the thorough preparation and helping us meet all the deadlines, which ensured that our strategies were ready in time for the webinar. Your seriousness and organization are remarkable, and I want to express our gratitude for your support throughout this process. Thanks again!

I am deeply touched with a strong feeling that the aspect of community conservation, using a conservancy Approach has unlocked the minds of our communities to embrace and support conservation outside protected area as away of realizing wildlife benefits directly. Although there is a sharp debate about the social impact of wildlife, communities must embrace Nature for a peaceful co-existence. thanks so much Peace & Walter for such a beautiful insight.

Great summary of some key changes needed, not just for supporting conservation efforts across Africa, but the wider world too. There are a number of additional points this article raises in my experience, including the extent to which organisational and wider national cultures influence approaches to leadership within CSO and how leadership within CSOs can influence wider cultures. We also need to look at leadership with a wide lens, recognising leadership is required at multiple levels across organisations for them to operate effectively and to respond to change- it's not just at the top that we need to see leadership as important. Creating learning cultures is central to our shared ability to respond to the dynamic world in which we live.

Spot on. Many CSOs are facing huge challenges in sustaining their work in light of the declining quality of wildlife and the environment. Short term interventions and reduced and unpredictable funding needs serious discussions so that solutions are sought before the situation runs out of hand
