It`s an average 4* hotel buffet with a reasonable amount of choice. There are a couple of chargeable a la carte restaurants IIRC but we didn`t try them.
Stayed here end of January last year, if your thinking of going you won't be disappointed it's such a lovely place, so tranquil & the staff are amazing, would love to return some day...
Thanks for the great review! We're going out to Barcelo Santiago next week. Did you get there from Tenerfie South airport, and if so how did you travel and what was the cost? We're trying to weigh up getting a coach over getting a taxi!
Yes, we flew to Tenerife South and got a taxi from there that we pre-booked with solhop.com. It cost 106 euro return last December, so may be a bit more now. We prefer taxi transfers as it`s quicker than the coach, but does add a bit to the holiday cost! Hope you have a good time there, it`s a great hotel and location.
It's a decent 5* hotel, but can be quite noisy with music around the pools. The rooms and food are good, and there's sunbeds on the beach which this video doesn't show IIRC.
Sorry, only just seen this comment. The hotel was okay, but quite noisy during the day especially at the top pool. Food is pretty good on the whole and there's a nice beach in front of the hotel, but we weren't tempted to return to Cape Verde though.
This is the central pedestrian street of Santa Maria..Wonder inland to the back streets to see the garbage littered dog infested streets ..Santa Maria is a dump and has become worse with growing mass tourism and the associated litter that brings..Paradise lost in my opinion..
Thanks for that perspective. We stuck to the main tourist area in Santa Maria so didn`t see the less salubrious areas, and as this was our first (and probably last time) on the island don`t know what it was like before.
Thanks! Unfortunately my camera doesn't have an external mic jack and I can't justify buying a new camera yet. Glad you like the content, I do these videos partly as a personal record, but mainly to help other people who may be interested in a particular hotel and destination. I've put music over some recent videos because of the wind noise and strange clicking noise it creates on playback.
Hi just seen your video, brings back great memories of each visit, we have been to Kalami at least 17 times we love it there. Going again this year, cant wait. Its so pretty.
@@BunchoHuncho not as far as I'm aware, but you could check the TUI or official hotel page to be sure. The pool I went in was cool in December, and okay once you got used to it and started swimming.
Interesting seeing this hotel from another person's perspective. We stayed there in December doing some filming for our RU-vid channel. Thought the hotel was good and food great 👍
Yeah, we really enjoyed it there and would consider going back in the future. I'll check out your channel. It's possible we were there at the same time as we stayed from the 5th to 19th.
Thanks for showing just the room since I will be booking this hotel for 2023. That is typical of a Mexican hotel if you're not spending over $1,000 a night so I'm okay with it I seen a lot worse here in Hawaii or in California for the same price.
@@TravelAnorak Thanks! for your video! This was a deciding factor for me. I know the resort is amazing but the beach part was important to me. I've updated my reservation to El Dorado Maroma! Thank you, Thank you :)
@@TravelAnorak Looks really quiet for the evening... I guess people are getting ready for dinner? How did you find the food & drink? From all the reviews and videos I've seen, it looks amazing. Also would you say it's a quiet hotel? We wanted something fairly low-key, especially at night, as I have trouble relaxing.
@@davethebulb food and drink were good on the whole. There's plenty of choice in the buffet restaurant and the house wine is drinkable but par for the course in an AI hotel. The only bum drink I had was the margarita as they used a sweet & sour syrup rather than lime. Overall it's fairly quiet, with some music at the pool, especially during the water aerobics. They sometimes have entertainment in the outside area of the bar in the evening but it's easy to avoid that. Btw, I'd recommend water shoes if you want to go in the sea.
@@TravelAnorak Was just having a conversation with the Mrs about the wine. Not expecting anything amazing. As long as they have something dry similar to Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay We'll be happy. Certainly not paying £100 for a bottle of Moet! yea, got our sea shoes! I heard the sea is pretty cold?
@@davethebulb the sea was cold at the start of our holiday in the last week of May but got a bit better by the end of two weeks. It's one of those situations where once you get used to it and start swimming it's fine. Regarding the wine, they also have a sparkling one available on the AI.
Possibly since it's a big resort if you go all the way down to the Generations section, but you need to watch out for buggies on this resort unless you go running early.
Enjoyed the tour and choice of music. We are anthropologists travelling the World. I, Turtle am a Maya Archaeologist who runs a museum in Florida. I thought that since we cover the same things, you might check out our stuff and subscribe to help us reach more people. our latest series is on the Yucatan with stops in Tulum, Ek Balam, and Chichen Itza. Cheers!
Is this hotel on the beach? Do we have to cross the street to the beach? Is that a private beach? Is there any risks to have our clothes stolen on that beach??? Thank you very much for your future answers. Very nice video.
Yes, you have to cross the street to the beach but the road isn't busy. The beach isn't private as far as I know, and the hotel has it's own sunbeds. I don't think it's likely you'll have clothes stolen, but like anywhere there's no guarantee. We felt safe in the hotel and Mamari which is a small laid back resort.
