I've always wondered what the fuck the DJ's are doing in performances like this. Like they look like they're mixing tracks, except this is one track that is more than likely on a CD that someone's just pressed play on. The DJ's just look like dicks, pretending to mix and scratch to nothing.
im not talking about record sales or popularity on the charts, im talking about activism, representing and speaking on political issues that her community faces, that's always been her musics focal point. Frankly if she was making pop songs for the radio she'd be doing herself and her people a disservice
1) 1.15 she is looks back angry at the suprise censorship, 2) 2.55 , super awkward on timing cause of censorship 3) 3.40min...dick-head goof hack DJ chizzels his way into some spotlight.what a fucking goof.
lettermen has been known to always give bad sound production to good artists songs unless the artist are big hits on the first run but by the second run good sound, on the show check Image dragons live on letterman first time, bad sound on letterman , second time around you can see the change the sound crew did good sound.you would never see letter men do this to world wide known bands only the ones that are starting out.
her face at 1:16 like WTF is the best thing ever seen on Letterman. sucks that they censored the gun shots and the "some some, some I some I murder.." part
Ironic indeed, in a country full of violence, where there are more than 200 millions guns.. Where every year there are more and more gunshot fights in american schools. This is ironic and sad, as you said. Don't get me wrong guys, I love your country (USA) for so many reasons. But there are things that I can't stand. Peace & Greetings from france.
Although I feed great respect for the USA, I will never understand the hypocrisy of that country. They sensor the gunshot effect on TV yet anyone can possess a riffle or any other type of heavy armour and go shoot innocent school children (RIP from the bottom of my heart) because the governments are afraid of the NRA..... Shame. I think you should reconsider what is actually dangerous and what not. Ohhh and stop watching TV
Personnally I totally understand, that the channel does not wish to broadcast gunshot sounds but they should have told her before. I think they are disrespectful to her changing her song without asking her beforehand.
@lilmoroccanangel being a uk rapper, and this song got some many rap remixes thats how people know her, rick ross, kid cudi and 50 cent are among few who remixed the song, and with that much promo she got famous.
@SK8musicfeeling You are stating an opinion that gun shot sound is not harmful. Swearing at an old lady is not harmful, either, but that doesn't mean its ok. In this case, the message being broadcast is not M.I.A.'s, its the message of the TV station. They decide what message they want to be broadcast. If they feel gunshot sounds do not represent their ideals, that is their right. Your opinion doesn't change the image they would like to project.
@coltranesteelkirt Sorry but comparing a gunshot sound in a song with attacking an old lady is highly demagogic and stupid. A gunshot sound in some song doesn't harm anybody. A real gun, which any citizen of the US can get pretty easily, is what can harm people for sure. But that's America for you, I guess.
@SK8musicfeeling The TV network has the right to feel that gunshot sounds are not appropriate to broadcast on THEIR show. M.I.A. has the 'freedom' of not performing on that show, if she doesn't like the rules. Do you feel someone has the right to go up to an old lady and scream the 'f'-word in her face, because they are simply 'expressing themselves'?
