Just for the record - the “J230-D” is also the Australian 2-seater, which, under Recreational Aviation Australia registration must stay at just 2 seats and is also limited to 600 kgs (1,320 lbs) MTOW. The identical four-seater is the “J430” (not sure whether the latest version is also a “D” model), but it must be CASA registered (i.e. VH-*** registration), but is then allowed up to about 720 kgs (about 1,580 lbs). Same fuselage, same engine, same wings, but an extra two seats.
My dad went to high school with the Rutan brothers. Has cool stories about them. The interior looks like a corvette interior! Awesome piece of art...I'm sold!
Interested in the "pressurized" turbine twin (maybe single?) and eventually the twin engine JET....hmmm? ?? ??????? nice to get up into 30K + flight levels.
Amazing, it’s like 30 years and Dwayne hasn’t aged a day since this old promo VHS tape! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-56rTmhbT8ao.html
SeaRey owner here.... nice plane! Couple things...no windows to fly while open, canopy opens against water pressure while upside down, ( should you flip ) gear switch out of sight, nose wheel not good for rough fields.... on the plus side, no flying wires, folding wings, anti flip design, water rudder. After looking at SeaMax and others I bought the American made SeaMax LSA.
Mostly a nice video. Glad you interrupted him to teach us about wind. So you go slower into a headwind. Got it. Wait a minute, are you sure its not faster into the headwind? Or is it into or behind a tailwind. Its so easy to get this mixed up. How do you remember which is which? I think you need a whole video for this. He tried to point out that the indicated 119 was lower than true air speed, but you declared it to be 'the speed you're moving through the air'.
I love the shape of this aircraft. I'm in the hopeful stage right now, looking at design software to build my first. Looking at possibly a twin engine using converted automobile engines rated at 750 hp each.
I am right-handed and fly from both seats. It doesn't take long to get used to either seat. And if you feel more comfortable having your left hand on the stick you can fly from the right seat, no problem. Just make sure you ask for an extra flap switch on the right side of the airplane.
You can fly from either seat with either hand. I'm an Airbus (retired) check airman). You can easily fly with either hand. I also have a Compair 6 and can fly with either hand on the stick from L or R seat. Easy as pie. Takes about 5 minutes to master it.
Guys I'm over here in Worcester and I watch a Canard flying around the other day in the winds are really bad in that thing Bounce Around looks like one Wild
I'll stay with fossil fuel, thank you. No one mentioned the life of batteries, the cost of chargers, How batteries can be damaged when discharged too far... Most owers enjoy the busy work of maintaining the engine. There probably are people out there who have a pocket of cash who are drawn to this new technology...kudos to aerolite.
Just don't plan on sitting in any static displays of any aircraft you're interested in. All said NO! and they weren't even new aircraft. Whether they are privately owned or direct from the factory, don't bring an aircraft to an aircraft SHOWCASE and NOT let potential buyers try one on for size. That's OK, they got my $20 anyway.
generally agree with previous comments AND you didn't even get them to demonstrate their products. who cares how cold it is - we want to make informed decisions about the products and with nearly 13 min videos like this i didn't learn anything really. lift your game.
Screw digital gauges I am old school mechanical analog gauges all the way. I can see digital for your guidance system but not for engine. A sensor or your display goes out you are fucked !
