Not yet, but I´m going to make a pearl inlay for the holes at the back of the knife as well.. they are just as disturbing, and I´m thinking to record a longer video if it is interest for it? :-) It´s a very time consuming process, but I would try to make it short, but informative.. @engraverhand

Oh I would not dare to set it like a stone or like metal inlay.. MoP is very fragile and now it´s only 0,8 mm thick.. and I have to sand a little more, so any little hit before it´s set would break it. Thanks a lot for watching :-)

Just the video I was looking for. Relatively new to vectoring, I've been trying to do intricate Pen tool vectors with a mouse and getting so frustrated. I'm much more accustomed to drawing pixel based art with an iPad and Pencil. It makes much more sense for me to do it like this. Thanks for showing the way.

Thanks a lot for watching! :-) Yea, it used to be the same for me, but Affinity Designer changed all that for me.. so much more effective to do it this way on the iPad :-) Still try to have as little nodes as possible.. even the pen often makes more nodes than you need, and always good to clean up some after. :-) Glad you liked it!

Many thanks! :-) I´m using the BenchJewel ArtGraver for all this project.. both engraving and setting, and for the geometry on the graver it´s about 60 degree onglette Lindsay template. Normally I would use a Carbalt graver, but this is really gummy and hard steel, so after a lot of testing I have found the M48 with a tiny tiny heel to hold up better.. also making the face about 55 degrees :-) Hope that helps!

Gran diseño, después de esto supongo que lo debes de imprimir para grabar la parte, me puedes decir cómo lo haces?
@engraverhand
@engraverhand Месяц назад
There is several ways to transfer a design to the object, and not really a quick and good explanation as there is many things that can go wrong or to take care of.. but the method I use the most is make sure I have the design at the right size. I use Affinity Designer for this, then I flip the design horizontal and print it with a laser printer (note not all laser printers do work) on parchment paper. Then I use a mix of damar varnish and zippo gasoline on the object and wait till it´s almost dry and then burnish the design on the object. :-)

Hello sir, u didn’t do any blackings right? How does your cut look like black lines while my cuttings do shiny colors
@engraverhand
@engraverhand Месяц назад
Hi :-) Correct, no black. It sometimes depends a little on the light and the metal. This is 416 stainless.. You see it’s getting dark while making the dots.. but if I turn it or take it out in a different light, the effect is not as good from every angle. That is how bulino dots often work. Try experimenting with light and white background. :-) Thanks for watching!
