This was the best advice I found on RU-vid. Thank you so much. I loved how you showed me both the valve options. For me the turn on valve that you showed by hand worked.
My well pump has been short cycling ( turning on and off all day long). Also, my sprinkler zones won't pop up unless I turn each zone on and off repeatedly for up to 20 minutes! I've had had companies come look some telling me I need a new pump and some saying there may be a leak. Any opinions on this?
So I have 11 zones in my system. My system runs off of a shallow well with a 2 Hp pump. System comes on fine with timer and works great until it reaches zone # 8. At that point pressure drops dramatically in zone #8 and only a small stream comes from one or two of that zones heads. I then go to my well pump and crack the threaded bleeder on top of the impeller housing. air bubbles will then come out and within a minute or two zone #8 will pressurize and come to life. The system will then finish off the remaining watering cycle without a hitch. Next day this same problem will repeat. What might I check in my system? Thanks
Everything you show me is fantastic, I have one question , what if you disconnect the white wire ? What it will happen, can to put it back together again without having any problem? I did disconnect the white wire . 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
So you just saved me a LOT of time and money - I have been researching for 6 months and I just happened upon your video (assuming you're in Texas too) and thanks to THIS video of the hundred I've watched, you fixed my issue. We bought the house 2nd hand and I'm pretty sure the first owners never used the system, as the master valve was completely covered with.. THANK YOU!
What if you got no water flow at all to the valve. Even with the top pulled off and diaphragm out of it, I turned the water on, and there’s nothing coming out at all.
Thank you so much for helping me with my sprinkler system. I know this is a temporary solution but it’s exactly what I needed. Great explanation too. I’m a clueless homeowner and it was extremely helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for the Video. Have a Hunter Sprinkler system with an Orbit B-Hyve controller. Everything was working fine till a few weeks. I was watering manually using the Orbit app and we had a week of sporadic rain in Toronto so didnt need to water. This weekend tried to water and there was no water in any zone using the app. Deleted and reinstalled the app. Checked the voltage and Ohm at the controller end. Also tested each solenoid and had a steady reading. Even replaced the controller. I can turn on the water for each zone by turning on the solenoid using quarter turn but other than that I cant get the controller to water. Not sure where the fault is. Appreciate help
You didn't explain how they work. I was looking for how it actually detects the rain. Functionally you explained how they work in the overall system well.
Your video was much appreciated for pointing me in the right direction! Everything at my Rainbird control box appeared normal (no errors), water was on, backlow preventer was disassembled & inspected but water still wouldn't flow. I used your tip to turn the zone valve bypass knob a quarter turn and water flowed so I figured "bad solenoid." However, none of the other zones worked either. Figuring there was a common cause, I opened up the control box to check wiring and - aside from a dead gecko and wasp nests - I found that the four-station module plugged into Bay 1 had somehow worked itself loose over 13 years. Replugging & flipping its bale to 'lock' fixed everything.
this is very good details. Thank you. I have a sprinkler system thats 35 years old and it still works good i am redoing my landscaping and will rearrange my sprinklers,
I found mine by following the wires coming from the control box and followed them to the sprinkler manifold which was in a box right next to the main water valve from the city. I know it has been a while but I hope this helped.
So you have to undo the turn the little values AND disconnect the wire for the sprinkler system to work? Turning just the little values on and NOT disconnecting the wire won't work, correct?
Quick question? mine take about 20 minutes to come on after I turn them on all the heads bubbling and after 15 or 20 minutes the stop bubbling then they come on..any idea?
The master valve has two wires coming from the timer and one wire color going to each solenoid wire ...is that correct? That is going to be why the faucet near my master valve only works when valve is turned on manually? Isn't it? I just don't understand how the other sprinklers all seem to be working except one.
