Dear Ryan, thanks for your comprehensive insights. But why not using a toothed trowel to comb the glue/mortar onto the wall directly as for tiles? Best Regards from Germany Wolfram

For anyone wondering, footings in Ontario by code have to be 1200mm below grade. This is to avoid frost heave from when the ground freezes over during the winter.
Great work Ryan, whereabouts in Jamaica are you from ? I myself am from St Catherine working for a masonry company in Toronto. Also have you ever thought about adding one of those furniture bumpers to the bottom of your trowel ? We usually add it to stop the pinging noises when we hit stuff with it
