I’m in first part of episode. As a Bengali Hindu coming from strong swadeshi roots in family, we have known of Durga Pujo as an ancient Hindu festival which became a spiritual resistance point vs British rule as Bengali Hindu society liberalized and became a sarbojonin puja to unite society. These tattvas about the start of the puja being to celebrate the downfall of Siraj, how well researched is this? Siraj represents a rallying point in many Indian nationalist, as well as Islamist groups, of last sovereign in Bengal. We should be careful in representing our holy festival as rooted in some political conspiracy, particularly one which was so disastrous for our land and civilization. Why these talks do not mention about Shri Ram praying to Maa Durga before battle with Ravana in this September/October time frame? I’m not saying that the Shovabajar raajbari is not part of the history, but why are we starting there? Don’t forget in Bangladesh how Hindus are harassed and pujas not being allowed. The Islamists in subcontinent maintain memories, we need to be aware of the true history because they most likely use the same perspective about Pujo being a celebration of downfall of Siraj to attack Hindus.
