join me on my journey as I learn how to ride a mountain bike ! So i bought an entry level calibre 2 cubed, with the intention of riding gravel paths just to lose some weight and get fitter! Then (as you do) I watched some RU-vid videos!!! And i'm hooked. So as a total novice follow me and see how easy (or hard) it is to progress in this awesome sport!!
Great to see your confidence on these trails. You're carrying more speed than you think. @@dirtcheap_downhill doing a good job installing confidence and critique along the way.
You did well mate, that’s what it’s all about, keep a confident mindset, feet on and keep rolling. The bike and yourself are capable of rolling over/down much gnarled terrain than you think, just keep at it and the confidence comes with experience
its really nice to see vids like this, I've just started getting into mtb'ing but the idea of those downhill tracks currently scares me, great skiills there
Innerliethen is a confidence booster. I hope you went down alot more of the tracks. I think you would of liked Salmons Journey as well. Caddon bank is a good one aswell
Great effort gordie! Don't put yourself down you have every right to be on those trails not like you pushed from top to bottom ! I'd be the same as you very cautious and take my time. Out there doing it all that matters !
Mate I am beyond impressed with this. Your riding in this video compared to some months ago when you're out riding locally yourself, night and day. It's like watching a completely different person, bits you'd get off and push months ago you're now just flying down. Keep this up lad!
Well done mate! Inners is a big step up for a rider at your level and you did really well on the trails you rode. The e-bike has certainly upped your game 👍
Inners is a tough place to ride as a beginner for sure. But, you'll learn quick! You did well mate, despite you talking yourself down, down the trails. Maybe talk yourself up for what you've just ridden and trust your tyres to grip on the corners. Great stuff tho Gordy, best place to get better at riding for me, keep at it!
You’re making brilliant progress on the bike mate, but you’re too in your own head. If you just rode and didn’t put yourself down all the time for not be a pro rider, You would probably progress even faster
Keep at it mate. Ive riding with a stoma and scared stiff of falling off. Sometimes I push myself to hard going down some rough stuff. Just had my stoma reversed so I’m out of action for a while, but can’t wait to get back out on my bike. Think I’ve watched ever MTB vid on you tube the last few weeks. It’ll be a while before I’m back out as suffering with recovery at the min. It’s tuff going. You keep at mate. Trials can be daunting especially if you have never rode them before.
Just bought the Scott ransom E910 what a bike! Settings on the Fox 38’s didn’t realise how many high speed low speed settings on top and underneath the rebound of the fork 😮Love the video mate 👊🏻👊🏻
Also what you need to focus what your tuning on the track your riding. Your rebound would only be viable if you using nearly all of your travel. Most of what your riding in the first part is you LSC or low speed sensitivity.
Everything is weight based, your weight will depict the amount the valves should be open. Slowing the rebound down will allow less oil to travel through. Speeding it up will let more travel. So, you will use more. the idea behind suspension is that the front and back mirror each other. If my rear suspension is setup harder than the front. You notice that the front compensates, and you will blow through the front more frequently. If you want to one day we can huck up and i can show you a few tips & tricks. Your suspension will truly depict your traction. If you're hitting a berm for example you don't want your suspension to start traveling and you sit into the travel. It's an absolute science. Perfect suspension will boost your confidence through the roof! Its alot to cover inside of one comment...
If its any help or just to try to rule something out here are my settings. 100psi, two tokens, 100kg rider ,160mm travel. HSC4 back from min LSC8 back from min HSR4 back from slowest LSR8 back from slowest I found it was the rebound that was the key to getting the feel i wanted. Best of luck 👍
Looked a canny day out...what settings do you have your gopro set at mate? Mine coming out grainy when played on the telly😒...great quality on your uploads, another great watch btw👍🏻
Grip 2 is no longer a high end fork! Good to see a G2 noob using the compression dials though, so many ppl just up the spring rate with pressure and tokens and ride fully open effectivly turning a £300 damper into a paperweight. Dont be a set and forget guy, if im riding trails ill drop 5psi and run 1or 2 clicks of HSC and 3 or 4 clicks LSC unless im at nant yr arian whoch requires no damping at all if im bike parking it the 5psi goes back in and im using all the HSC and 9 or 10 clicks of LSC
yea im still trying to get my head around all the settings lol, but i know whats good for hard pack graded trails wont be good for steep loose chunk! i'll get there eventually
