Celebrating the experience of cinema at the Egyptian Theatre, Hollywood & the Aero Theatre, Santa Monica. Since it began screening films to the public in 1985, the American Cinematheque has provided diverse film programming and live in-person discussions and events with thousands of filmmakers and luminaries, presenting both new and repertory cinema to Los Angeles.
I’d like to know if the glass paperweights behind him are from the west wing oval Also. Sorkin is like a Michaeangelo…once he sees the statue in the marble, and once the cast saw/sees it…”direction” is less needed…
I love the American Cinematheque so much!!! Not only amazing state of the art films, great guests and festivals but also amazing memories that I will never forget <3 <3
Happy 40th Anniversary, American Cinematheque! I recall that Peter Dekom was very influential in creating the structure and organizing and securing the funding for the creation of American Cinematheque. I was hoping that he would be acknowledged for his valuable contributions.
I grew up on Roger's movies. The man gave me my first film jobs when I came to Hollywood (unpaid but I was fed). My partners and I honored him at our Fright Fest in 1981. Roger Corman IS the movies, and I still can't believe that as a child I was so terrified by "Attack of the Crab Monsters" that I didn't see it again for over 30 years. Truly marvelous.
A testament to the fact that you can never betray your country but your country can betray you! Kurosawa based this movie around the events of infamous Special Unit 731 (made into another movie by Mou tun-fei - Men Behind the Sun). After seeing the film one should consider that American troops actually caught Dr. Shiro Ishii, responsible for the war crimes in Manchuria but the US let him and his men go on the condition to hand over all documents and results. makes you wonder how this did happen. The whole of the 731 never saw justice.
Catherine O'Hara shared a similar story of how they closed the 405 for John in her emotional eulogy at his public memorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O8CoPFXED_Y.html
What a beautiful tribute. What a wide spectrum of friends and talented peers loving on her in every way possible (and even, bittersweetly - a posthumous award nomination) celebrating her, her life, work and loves.

13:20 This reference to Joker is exactly what I thought in that scene which shows Casey from behind, approaching the house, with a sense of purpose and the vehemence with which she was ready to greet this destined task, which made it seem that she didn't care about the consequences of whatever she was about to do, however meticulous she has been until then.
