Research and performances by interactive technology artist, Jason J. Snell. Work includes biometric sonfiication (making music from the brain, heart, breath, and movement), music AI systems, and a back catalog of several music projects including Bombardier, 5th of July, and The Space Where She Was.
Excellent job done, I think you have put your share actively into this research , I mean programming the water according to the vibration of your mind and spirit, this is what we call it Radionics or Psionics approach, in the coming future that will bring revolution in holistic medicines and vibrational healing, you did a remarkable job while unmasking the real world of vibrations, these energy pattern can change the structure of water accordingly, all the best and keep on going, be blessed..
@@jasonjsnell I think if you synchronize your subconscious with your thought and then focus your intention to manipulate the energy pattern of water with just glazing technique, it also works, all the best and keep on doing the needful for the humanity.
@@voidandnon-2530 Yeah it was an extremely creative and experimental time. I relistened to the Violence mix last night and remembered I mixed that by creating a custom MIDI program on my hardware to load in and record the different parts of the different tracks. So, no computer, no DJ'ing. It was a really roundabout way to make a mix haha
I was JUST sharing about your work with a friend last night, then I got your email about this today! Another beautiful synchronicity! And another AMAZING and life-changing development in your arsenal of gifts to the world! I am so proud of you my friend!! 💖
I came upon this randomly, and I have to say, this is amazing work! Connection is at the very center of art, and you've inspired me to explore some of these ideas. Looking forward to seeing your explorations evolve.
@@jasonjsnell Passive neurofeedback, to manage ADHD. Its been demonstrated before on the focus1 headband (now called focuscalm, downgraded) but they made it no longer available :( Is it possible to stream from mindmonitor to use this? There are only 2 good neurofeedback softwares avalible for consumer eegs, for muse it's Neurovisual v6, for Neurosky it's Neuroexperimenter. Both free.
I haven't created a commercially available one, but some friends in Berlin have one: www.kickstarter.com/projects/instrumentsofthings/somi-1-turn-your-movements-into-sound
I listened with head phones... interesting feeling in the body as I listen to your body. some agitation.... I wonder if my mother's heartbeat was recorded like this would my mind, body recognize it from other heart recordings? hmmm
Do you think the agitation came from the heart beat, or that white noise oscillating in the background? I've had some other people feel agitation from the distortion / intensity of the white noise.
@@jasonjsnell I truly am intrigued by what you are doing. I work as support for a trauma recovery center. The story of your grandfather was really interesting. I believe trauma is carried down into generations, it seems to be an ongoing cycle in the subconscious for some. I look forward to more of your work. Thank you!
Cymatics and the effects of different frequencies on water has also been used to provide visual proof for reiki energy healing as well! How wonderful that you are able to add another dimension to the innovative field of cymatics with your work!
You never cease to amaze me. That was really cool, and kind of brought a tear to my eye and definitely brought a smile to my face. Carry on! It's absolutely magical. :)
This guy is absolutely brilliant. Talk about leaving a legacy. Uncharted territory. Bombardier. Primary Assembly. Jason Snell. Call him what you will. I call him a revolutionary !!!
Great app, I just subscribed. I started using it again after so many years, now I read manual, so I got better. What is the synth sound here? and in your app "texture" track 8, what does it do? thanks
If it's EEG to kick drum, where do do the crackles and reverb come in? I'm definitely interested and learning more about your process. This is so cool.
I was sending some of the heart data into an Ableton channel that filtered out the lows of the kick and put a huge reverb on it (for style and texture)
Using iOS 14.7 on a 2020 ipad. Tried this several times on my iPad In several configurations and the app simply refuses to accept any MIDI input whatsoever.
In relation to the human genome ...if you are still working with that data... you could do better than choosing random sequences of human nucleotides to express musically ... that could be like listening to a thousand radio stations at once .....delve into the language...so rather for example research and convert “ highly conserved genomic” sequences (pro survival over millennia..let’s say they will be more aesthetic as a hypothesis .. ( eg. haemoglobin or cytochrome sequences ) and also ..by way of comparison ..sequences known as ancestral endogenous retro viral sequences ( there are hundreds of them recorded in our genome .....all victories in face of drastic odds over the millennia ,, in the evolution of primates ) ..and so perhaps compare the tonality of the midi output..it might be interesting to see the emotionality , expression of the translation . 🔊 Limbic
The DNA-inspired music sequences were just in early songs for the project, in early 2018. I shifted over to having the sequences be determined in real-time with the live EEG and heart data.
I have taken naps with it, and it's amazing to hear my brain as it's going asleep. I have not done experiments where I'm not hearing the music because the biofeedback of the system is one of the more fascinating aspects of the process to me.
Well thanks for answering all my questions ...I will follow developments on your channel and have pointed a few people in the Uk to your channel.... I think someone might be going to do a. review of Refraktor in the Auv3 format 🙏👏👏👍
I don’t write music like this ...or indeed to be honest like it..but what you are doing is fascinating ..are you modulating the synths by changes in your eeg pattern? If you are then I think that’s a unique contribution to the world of musical composition..well done 👏👏🔊🔊🔊🔊🎩🦄
Correct - in this build, the synths and drums are being modulated by my EEG, using primarily the delta and alpha waves and the relationship between them at any given point. The main modulation was through filter, EQ, effects, tempo, and arrangement, where more current builds enable my EEG waves to also shape the fundamental oscillations (tune, pulse width, etc...)
I've had your Bombardier Jealousy Kills 7" for about 20 years - don't remember where I got it, just played it for the first time in a very long time - it aged well. I've also got a copy of the Minion/Cassandra Datakill 12" on the same label. Did you ever perform up in Chicago or Milwaukee in the early 2000s? Good work - cool to see you're still at it! keep it up.
Thanks Rob! Those track on Jealous Kills seemed to come out of a hybrid style, just pure experimentation. Glad to hear they've stood the test of time. I didn't play Chicago until 2018, which was ironic because I grew up in Iowa, very close to it. I played a lot in Minneapolis, and various places in Wisconsin (Furthur, WTW series) but I don't think Milwaukee proper.
