Absolutely! Just like cutting your own grass or paying someone else to cut yours for you. Some people enjoy doing things their self and others would rather pay someone else. I made this video to share what steps I went through to get my truck, so that others can weigh the pros and cons and make the decision their self. If you want something special like an automatic, AC w/locking diff, supercharged, or a jumbo cab, sellers here put a premium price on top.

Haha im doing the same with my 84 got the rear subframe from an 86 and am doing a torsion bar delete, and gonna run the koni yellow coilovers from paragon products, they are cheap and apparently are really good.
I am a resident of SC, but in NY for a few months working. Was looking at buying a truck for daily use up here, but would want to register in SC. Do you think I could mail these documents in to get it registered?
I was in southern Japan in 2019, Bepu. I saw many K trucks. I saw and old woman transporting vegetables in the back of her truck, later we saw her parked on the side and people buying her vegetables, it was so cool. Around Tokyo I noticed many types of K vehicles with yellow license plates. Japan and its people are a beautiful place.
I have the 951, its fun but I have alternator issues. Either the voltahe regulator or a wiring issue. All 80s cars dont run without a good fuel pump..my 87 fiero gt did the same.👍
Hi there! Really enjoying that content on the Kei truck but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that you installed the 2 rear bolts in upside down. The orientation at removal was bolt on bottom, nut on top. I believe that’s why you had a hard time installing the second bolt. And some blue loctite would insure a little peace of mind. It is my understanding that the EPA and DOT forms have to get stamped after physical inspection by CBP in order to register the vehicle. Was that the case in your situation?
Out of curiosity say for example you live too far away to pick up the vehicle from port, are there any options you've seen to have a truck like this shipped domestically after you've had thr broker sign off on it?
Rock & Roll Transport (the company I paid $75 to pull my truck out of customs) offered to have it delivered from Jax FL to Greenville SC for somewhere under $800. So that is definitely an option. I spent $200 in fuel there and back, and 12 hours driving, but enjoyed the road trip with my dad.
I would rather go to one of the many dealerships tat are here now and buy one for 6 or 7 k in cash, they tune it up, replace all filtters and put new tires on it for that. Still a good deal except I can get it today.
I'm currently gathering information for a manual I'll be writing about acquiring the best mini truck for one's own needs. I'm now on my 3rd vehicle(which is for sale). But I have driven quite a few and have found that all makes have notoriously inaccurate speedometers. I use a gps speedo purchased from Amazon, and after calibration, it's very accurate (only $32). I'm also in SC.

@@joeroe2839I suggest non-ethanol, I use 93 and my truck seems to like it. Non-ethanol is great because it doesn't eat away at rubber, also when these were made they weren't using ethanol, pretty sure they used 90

Nice looking Acty Attack! You not only have new tires, you also have a newly replaced timing belt. It looks well maintained. I have a 96 4WD Hijet. I wanted A/C and locking rear diff but I kinda fell in love with a relatively low mileage Japanese farm truck without those features for $265, but I had to put a clutch in it so I'm close to where you are in price at $5,563.15. I love my Hijet. It's awesome. I bought it from Be Forward and mostly imported it myself. I gave up on filing the federal forms. In theory you can. In practice, you can't. I hired an online broker for just the paperwork. I also paid Crown TWIC to facilitate the port dealings. I wasn't about to send fingerprints and wait a long time to get a TWIC card. I imported through Newport News. Baltimore is 30 miles closer to me (60 miles round trip) but I watched The Wire and wanted nothing to do with the port in Baltimore. 🙂 I drove 21 hours round trip, mostly at night in the rain on the West Virginia turnpike. I was relieved that my 2005 4Runner towed the one ton trailer and 1600 pound kei truck through the mountains like a champ. I have the only kei truck on the road in my town of almost 400,000 people. Almost everyone loves the little kei truck. I get a lot of thumbs up, waves and smiles. I'm shocked at how practical it is. It's a billy goat off road, even with the little nearly worn out tires (same Dunlop Enasave tires that you have). I'll be putting Yokohama Super Digger II tires on it soon. I thought about larger tires but they kill the gas mileage, slow the already too slow acceleration, and reduce the top speed because the increase in effective gear ratio won't allow 5th gear to wind out far enough to reach max HP RPM. Larger tires will probably rub on the suspension or body, even with a 2" lift. I like that my kei truck has a five speed. I drive it 100 KPH all the time but it'll do 110 no sweat and probably maxes out around 120 KPH. I mostly drive around town but never on the highway. My Hijet also has a HI/LO transfer case. First gear is low even in HI range, but it crawls in LO range. I stalled on my Hijet projects this summer, but I'll be ordering the Super Digger II tires soon, brakes, and Medium Quartz Gray Monstaliner polyurethane bed liner so I can paint the Hijet inside and out. I already have large ammo boxes to use as tool boxes, a bunch of LED light bars and material and foam to reupholster the seats as well as seat heaters for a nice luxury upgrade. But tomorrow evening, I'm tossing my kayak in the back so I can get in a lap or two at the city park lake a few miles from my house.

100%! The first time I drove this thing it kinda scared me, I got used to it after daily driving it for a week, but after putting the new bushings in, night and day difference! Props to whoever figured it out!
I paid for a Sambar on June 30th. It’s still waiting for a shipping reservation by Autohub. Did Mitsui work with you directly or did they go through Autohub or another forwarding company on the shipping part of the transaction. Was the battery dead when you picked it up?
@@cro-cro Thanks for the info. Mine was purchased also from Mitsui but after two weeks it was picked up by a car exporting service (Autohub) from them and my car shipping info is on Autohub’s website and shows “carried” status awaiting ship reservation. This may be a new process with Mitsui???

About two or three weeks after I bought mine it got scheduled to put out on Hoegh’s St Petersburg, Mitsui asked if I was going to import it or a broker, and then two days later it shipped. Maybe email Mitsui and ask if they have a contact for you at autohub for you to ask questions to?
