Love the story in the video summary...But yeah, a great surf movie all around.👏🏻👏👏🏼👏🏾👏🏿 . Nobody on earth Id love to jam with more than Jack. Going to the north shore to record music is still a dream I feed and keep clothed for that day.....
Nostalgia level maxxed out here! Bananas and Blow by Ween!!!! Strider was the man - then & now! The only WSL talking head i can get behind.... He needs his own surf show/surf vlog/hbo series...🤔.....not totally impossible. I'd guess he could give a better first-hand account of life on North Shore from this era. I wasn't even paying attention to the surf world at this time...skated a lot.. around ventura, carpinteria, la conchita, and smoked tons of weed and ate buddys moms chicken quesadillas.
Killer original tune boys! Keep writing songs cuz ya got a unique origina that suits original songs....plus the covers i saw on YT come off forced, just my lame opinion and took this moment to appreciate uour band and hope success finds yall...clear youve been playing together long enough to have paid some dues...anyways, later!
As a teenager, I was completely crazy about Jack Johnson. I owned the soundtrack for this movie and I dreamt about watching it, which was impossible to find here in Brasil in the pre-intetnet era. Thank you for sharing this. ❤
Thank you for uploading this gem. Brings back memories of hanging good friends at the beach, the pad and anywhere and everywhere without a care in the world. Great times.
lolllllll Bruce irons brushing his teeth: "state your name and spell it.... ....ARe YOU f'n kidding me? What is it your doing here at the volcom house and the north shore?!" mickey nielson "M-I-C-K-Y watching team uhhh too drunk to fuck, and making sure they stay out of trouble and cheering them on" Thats how you know they liked to party haha! Also the ballsiest surfers!! Bing bong!
0:25 "Her children... are BASTARDS!" Will Anderson's delivery was a resonant bomb with an explosion that sucked the very air from the throne room. The word 'BASTARDS' hangs in the air like smoke from a dragon's flame for an uncomfortably long time. It's the only thing you can hear besides Viserys' labored, painful breathing and the whispers of everyone who was too afraid to openly speak a truth that could start a war (whoops)! It was established during the Crabfeeder saga and many times prior that Vaemond was the only one to say something like "Uh, hey, Daemon is being a loose-cannon dipshit and it's losing us this campaign right now." He's not afraid to clearly voice his intentions, displeasure, etc. Its also clear that securing his family legacy is paramount to him during this contentious time. On the same token, his predisposition to harsh candor can certainly draw the ire of people. He analyzes his perspective keenly enough, but once he triangulates his perspective on the matter it is difficult to sway him otherwise. Viserys dogs him by refusing to marry Rhaenyra to his son, then years later tells Rhaenys that the challenger to his familial title is a bastard and all he gets is a "shush or you're going to die", then is forcibly abdicated by a change in inheritance favoring said bastard, THEN gets told by Viserys, who is so sick and addled that even standing takes supreme effort, and more importantly is likely very open to manipulation, that he is 'nothing but the second son of Driftmark' in the same breath that he coronates a bastard? At this point, I think Vaemond is correctly apparaising the impending downfall of his House. I think he has the right to be pissed. Was he tactical or prudent in the way he applied his candor, passion for his house, anger? Nope! That, what I think, makes for a realistic character. He's human. He pays dearly simply for being provoked into speaking truth -- particularly, for speaking it in the wrong way to the wrong crowd. He isn't a Tywin Lannister, who would have successfully let the truth loose in a far more tactical manner and may have taken these repeated offenses against his house on the chin -- only so that he may have the offenders by the throat later. Nor is he Daemon, who takes risks as a way of life but can rely on his skill, charm, savvy and nearly untouchable political position as a safety net. Daemon calculates risks and takes unfavorable chances (like singing to The Bronze Fury or 1v1'ing the Crabfeeder Prince) but succeeds thanks to a long combination of positive mitigating factors that are internal and external to Daemon, and include a GENEROUS amount of luck. Vaemond lacks the guile, personal ability, reputation, or political safety net to be making such declarations, but yet he does so anyway. He's "just" the Second Son of Driftmark, who has the courage, pride, and drive to stand before the King himself and tell the entire nobility that their descendants are bastards. He's also not savvy or reserved enough to refrain from calling the heir to the Iron Throne a whore, nor is he persuasive enough to levy any argument to the King other than "You know how pure my blood is, my house goes way back!" and "Even though you're the King, you can't govern the succession of my House" which is not exactly a powerful point of view in the feudal, imperialist setting of HoTD. He has to unleash the truth bomb to obtain any meaningful leverage with which he can negotiate, but it came with a massive risk that he would not have time to articulate his full position on account of them taking his slanderous tongue. He took a Daemon level risk, but he isn't Daemon. This kind of shit happens in real life ALL the time. The slight smirk on his face before he delivers the line. He is feeling such a rush of emotions one can only feel in a moment like this-- he is beyond rage. He has set aside self-preservation. He's bathing in contempt that has festered for years, yet also undertaking what he objectively views as a honorable duty to the realm (and a route to re-instill himself and his house into a position of power.) Hes feeling the rapturous euphoria that comes with sating a selfish fantasy while also standing tall in the name of your family and your own personal dignity. His declaration is just as much a spiteful martyrdom as it as a courageous defiance. Vaemond is willing to commit what amounts to open high treason if it means he gives his house a chance to sustain some degree of autonomous governance (while tragically, probably sealing their fate with his zealous demise). He reloaded and said it with his WHOLE chest -- which is very much against the repeated advice of confidants and family, and very much in line with Vaemond. Honorable? Yes. Brave? Absolutely. Smart? Fuck no. But that seems like a very possible human reaction -- to step forward and say the thing you'd never thought you'd say, consequences be damned... and then the consequences damn you. Even if it is to his benefit, he seems to be the only one wishing to genuinely play by the rules that are so lauded and touted by the Valeryions and the Targs -- even while everyone who benefits from such 'pure' noble bloodlines are far less pure than he. Ned Stark suffered a relatively parallel fate, and viewers universally love him. I've seen many calling Vaemond an idiot. They are not identical in political position or as people, but it's interesting to see how opinions differ with a slight perspective change. Ned Stark didn't exactly blow down the doors of the Iron Throne room and announce that Joffrey is a bastard, but he got caught in a fairly stupid way that was borne out of an honorable trait that compelled the character to tell the truth. Don't analyze a character as badly written or 'stupid' just because they are acting realistically based on information we know as viewers and the personality traits we glean from them over the course of S1. I'm not saying his methodology here was smart by ANY means, but from his perspective he is pushed to the boiling point with little options, so he acts while he thinks he still can.
He tried to steal his Brothers land. Also even if you disregard his brothers wishes the Strong boy was betrothed to a Velaryon so their children would be Velaryon and the House survives. He was selfishly trying to steal.
