it would be better… if the ships didn’t just feel like the same ones rehashed. for example, I actually liked lionblaze and heathertail because it felt like they actually had a backstory and a reason to like each other (but also I’m in the middle of reading omen of the stars so maybe it gets worse later), meanwhile all the others (that I’ve read) are just kind of… repetitive.
you can argue Jayfeather x Halfmoon is not a forbidden romance. For all intends and purposes, during the time itself that these events technically happned in the story: Jay's Wing wasnt a medicine cat/the med cat code didnt even exist yet and he and Halfmoon where from the same "clan".
I'm no fan of this series but with me being in the furry fandom as a whole, for years I always come across some Warrior Cat drama....as an outsider looking in, this is a goddamn mess!
I was immediately attached to his character for being blind since it was interesting to me, and I can say that I always liked him ^^ I like his personality and feel bad for him
1:21 crowfeather and feather tail was an canon ship as we get notice from storm fur trying to ask why she loves crowfeather or at the time crow paw. Not to mention we have lots of other ones that aren’t exactly like canon… if that make sense. Anther canon one we approach is brook where small fish swim and stormfur.
To be honest, no one can expect cats to only fall in love with others in their clan, OR fall in love with cats they shouldn't. (Rouge, longer, medicine cat, etc.) But in my opinion, forbidden love is actually kind of one of my slightly favorite parts of the books. Do NOT come at me for this, because I am only at the sight. This is just my personal opinion
People saying disabled cats can’t be warriors is so weird to me, my mom had a cat that got hit by a car and lost an eye, teeth, and broke her jaw, plus she was very old, but she still managed to catch prey even when she was on a leash. People definitely underestimate the adaptability of cats, and how amazing hunters they are in general, if you go to a cat colony I feel like you’d be likely to see multiple disabled cats doing just fine, albeit with shorter lifespans but that can apply to any wild cat
I trily hate how the last 3 Dawn of the clans gaslight the reader into believing ckear sky is secretly a good guy that's just misunderstood. Yeah uh, tell that to the cats he murdered.
Cats are adaptable. EXTREMELY adaptable. The Erin's obviously are writing these characters from a very human perspective. I remember reading the first series, and being excited to see how theyd write Snowkit- would we get a side story about how he learns unique hunting and fighting strategies? He seemed to be able to read lips, since he spoke once, plus he can use body language as well. But no, we didnt get that, he dies right after being introduced and i feel like its literally just cause they didnt know how to write him. Its such wasted potential cause he could have been such a cool character. Also i was shocked when cats were talking about how brightheart couldnt be a full warrior at first. She was missing one eye! Its not even like she was fully blind in this case! There are countless feral cats missing eyes out there who can fend for themselves. Thankfully they actually went in a decent direction with her. Fully blind and deaf cats can adapt just fine; their other senses cam more than make up for it. Blind and deaf cats can hunt just fine by using smell and sensing with their whiskers, which is what any cat mostly relies on while hunting anyway. And i've seen MANY cases of cats with injured, paralyzed or missing legs, etc. who can move just as quickly and easily as another cat. Plus these cats live in societies, social groups where they protect each other. They follow a code of honor. This isnt a "survival of the fittest" situation, they have their clanmates to help them. for example, briarlight may have trouble catching prey since she cant really sneak up and pounce. But realistically she wouldnt be be cooped up in the medicine den either. She could easily border patrol, collect nesting material and herbs, guard camp and other clan cat stuff. Even catch fish although that isnt really a thunderclan thing lol. Also its just horribly inconsistent in general; deadfoot is seen in the first series as a deputy, and yet not long after cinderpelt is treated like she cant even become a warrior when they both have one disabled leg. Of course its fine if she had the option like any other cat and still chose to be a medicine cat because she genuinely wanted to but it was always portrayed like she had no choice. Its never elaborated whats going on with deadfoot other than that he had a birth defect but really, if he can be deputy theres no reason why cinderpelt couldnt be a warrior if she decided to choose it. Im not one to complain about everything being offensive all the time but in this case it really is justified for people to complain about this. The disabled characters are handled horribly and their issues are treated as way more debilitating than it really would be realistically. I dont think its malicious, i think the erins are just too lazy to write unique ideas and characters, but its still not good especially when most readers are impressionable kids.
I’m not too surprised with the books being challenged, information. Due to too many people still have strong religious beliefs, that unfortunately sees gays and trans as inferior or broken individuals. Another problem is that kids are learning this mess from their parents or other people within their community, like friends. I wish this misconception was fixed, especially since it’s extremely problematic especially to those that want to have a gay relationship or want to be respected as a trans individual.
Imo, forbidden romance can actually be interesting if it's written well, and not overused like Erin Hunter does... Especially since they don't know how to write many healthy romances *cough cough Bramblesquirrel, cough*
9:48 This makes me incredibly happy to hear, and I hope that it continues to stay this way. These books are their's to write and for us to read. We shouldnt have a say in the way the books shall be written.
Did the Erin Hunter team forget about Deadfoot? He was WindClan’s deputy under Tallstar? He had a disability similar to Cinderpelt and was alive when Cinderpelt was. So I’ve always been confused about why no one talks about how cats can still be warrior with a damaged leg. I like to think after Cinderpelt was depressed from her injury she felt an affinity and respect for medicine cats and became one not because of her injury but because of Yellowfang
I still like the dynamic even though it's over used. Sure there's alot forbidden ships but its fun to read about them but yes, I do think there needs to be more dynamics and different kinds of love stories. My only guess is books are usually meant to be dramatic so adding in forbidden love if a popular drama starter for Warriors but no I dont hate it and its in fact one of my favorite ships
I noticed that the more books that are banned, the more people want to read as to why they are banned. Not saying banning is okay but love how people figure why books are banned. I still think banning LGBTQ+ books is dumb since, why not ban straight couples books? It's the same thing after all, love. Also hate that the companies are so afraid of losing profit. Kind of the reason I want to, if I ever publish, to be self so I'd have little restriction. It won't be exactly swimming in money but would love to publish without worry.
@@KamiNo-mobvote No it is not. It is a pentacle which is protection in my spirituality of being a witch (and no that's not evil either), it also represents the elements. The color is for me being transgender. Nothing evil about it.
He is my favorite character because I vibe with him on a lot of levels (Not blind, mind you) im so happy to listen to an analysis on his caustic little ass.
