Did you say "scratch-built snow shields"? I have 3 GP38-2's, modeling the Algoma Central light passenger rail, and I'm having a terrible time locating the shields. Any source help would be fantastic !!
So you can order some from miniatures by eric, which are cast in brass but are hit & miss in the finish, so i just used a 0.020" thick sheet of styrene. To make the top part of the sheild I measured the width of the angled part of the cab roof (plus a little extra for saftey to get a nice finish) then measure from the cab roof back to filter screen (that big grill behind the cab) and then for the small little end part of the sheild, use a small peice of modellers painters tape to hold it to the shell, measure the inside distance from the outside of the shell to the inside of the sniw sheild, glue that to the main part of the sheild and your set, once the glue dries you can paint it up and you'll be set to go. If you like i will be making a video on how i do this
Beauty models. I was present when CN 7600 went through LCS testing at Mac Yard. It doesn’t have all that business on the cab roof though. The riveted panels on the slug roof are where concrete ballast and blowers to keep traction motors cool were installed. Can’t wait to see it finished at a show. Cheers
thank you 🙂 also thank you for the info on the slugs. I'm not sure if the PTC array was added before their delivery or after but they are both there now on 7601 and 7600, my model isn't an exact match to whats on 7601's roof, as some of the antenna's were facing different directions but its close enough
Hay great video update. Lots of cool projects on the go, they can really eat up your concentration and then a squirrel comes along like buying new rolling stock!!..LOL I don't know if you are aware, the OVR trash cars were made by Aroura Miniatures. If you'll notice, the wheel-sets are the same along with some of the brake piping details. Cheers! Earl
Thanks :) ive found that with putting in the effort is the best way to get what you want, esspecially with prices now, $400+ for a pointe saint charles caboose and $1500 + for a gp9rm and slug (in brass)
Just watch your last two updates….like your attention to detail in your diesel/switch machine projects….haven’t developed that patience, yet 😊….getting there
Great update my friend, Nice roster of locomotives with awesome weathering!!! Your work on the GP9M has come along very nicely and the handrails look just like the prototype and seeing how intricate they are on the front and back....great patience and craftsmanship.
Exactly! SRY doesn't have SW1200s! Other than NREX 1237 that operates at the Fraser docks which of course isn't operated by sry but comes in for maintenance
