BTW, why is your engine running while filling the fluid? You'll never get accurate measurement. Fill it completely, then start the car. Run it through all gears.
Hey man, so did this help with the clunking or skipping of gears? Having the same problem especially in colder weather however I saw in the manual book that the ATF is "maintenance free" and I am wondering if I should even bother . So simple question - did it help? Thanks
Made shifts smoother for sure. It stopped my skip shift feeling from 2-3 gear. It may help in your case but without knowing what’s going on inside the transmission nothing is certain.
@@tazsfixes8368 our 2012 g37 rwd does take a tad longer to manual shift from 2-3 it's got 84k on it wanna do the fluid flush asap. how do we know we won't over fill the fluid?
My understanding is that when you loosen the drain bolt, the overflow is supposed to be a minimal flow - yours was off the charts, confusing. Anyone else agree?
The fill hole overflow would have been much less of his level was correct and vehicle running and the transmission fluid is up to operating temperature
@@christophermcsherry2655 According to the service manual, you put 3 liters in, drain, then fill it up again with 3 liters, then drain. Final step is to add 3 liters and make sure temp is 104 degrees F. As soon as it hits that temp, you crack open the overflow plug and let it come out until a trickle. With this type of design, temperature is everything. Too hot or to cold can affect level. Make sure vehicle is level. If it doesn't drip out or pour out, then you probably got to add more.
There’s a plug in the front/top of the transmission where the fluid drops straight into the pan so you won’t need to force it into the drain plug with a special tool. I used a garden sprayer with the attachment removed and pumped it down the hole into the pan.
Good video clear and direct. There is no dipstick at the upper left rear of the engine on the G37? I know the G35 has one and would be an odd change with the engines being the same.
@@lewokejames My understanding is they both have the VQ or HR V6 engine which has a varying displacement of 2.0 - 4.0. Different transmissions explains why one has a dip stick and the other doesn't.
Hey brotha thanks for vid ,I had a question if my cooler lines are leaking am I able to change them without having to take out trans also that the only thing I could think of that would be leaking ive replace the heater hose coupler a couple months back tova aluminum one that's not leaking so I was thinking it has to be those cooler lines ,it's leaking from the passenger side area so that's why I thought it was the coupler hose but it wasn't.also is it a long & expensive job to do . I was thinking of doing it myself. Thanks brotha appreciate any info u may have ..I got 09 g37x
Somebody please help me out, I recently bought a g37xS with 157k miles with no known history of fluid changes, other than engine oil. So can somebody tell me if it’s necessary to do a ATF change on my car? It’s a 7 spd and I’ve seen way too many people saying you shouldn’t do this for some reason
@@twomusketeers8867well since I own it I been having a little too much fun with it, awd so can’t drift it but I definitely have floored it couple of times
Wasn’t that a lot Of transmission fluid in there initially? I thought your supposed to let it drain till it bubbles but your fill plug kept dripping for two minutes in the beginning of the video.
Got a ? , recently my 09 37x stalled on me wen it hit 40 mph I noticed it then started to pull car over to side as I did I noticed it started smoking .do u think it's a hose line that busted or what be ur opinion do u think the fluid was leaking on to something hot to cause it to smoke like that also I stared it real fast to check if it moves it still goes forward & backwards did it real quick to get an ideal where it stands. Did drive it didn't want to risk it cause I know it lost some tyranny fluid.. any info is much appreciated it thanks brotha..
I’m an Infiniti tech and I do not recommend changing your transfer case fluid. Seen lots of transfer cases go out randomly after changing the fluid. You can top it off, but don’t drain and fill…
It’s hard to see on video but you notice bubbles coming out the end of the hole when you are doing your final drain to ensure you are at the correct level. This extremely annoying method is unfortunately very common even on high end cars. I hope we can go back to dip stick in the near future to take the guessing game out of it
A guy at a auto shop is trying to charge me $500 for this to be done is that a fair price? If not how much is fair for a transmission flush and replacement?
I have a 2015 infiniti q40 .. I can't find the filter or gasket for it.. can anyone point me in the right direction.. I need to do this but can't find the parts!
This is very insightful and I appreciate you documenting it. I'm looking at buying a 2012 and was curious what type of work went into doing this. No dipstick is a huge bummer. I was curious though why so much fluid came from the fill plug. As far as I was aware hardly any if anything should come out of that plug, or is that normal?
At least it's not like some of these newer cars where you need to use a scan tool just to do a drain and fill, but still annoying that they don't give you a fill plug at the top of the trans or a dipstick.
Your a clown 😂 🤡 they include enough oil to drop the pain or drain the pan TWICE. Only 40% of the oil come out when you drain the pan… the remaining 60% is in the torque converter, oil cooler/radiator, cooler lines, and residual. So your intended to use the 10 qts twice, in a primary change of 40% and a secondary change after a few hours driven. The new ATF mixes with the old and you drain again and replace with the remaining 5 qts. You then heat the trans to operating temp, and cycle the shifter, verify if more oil is needed, or allow to drain until at proper level as seen in this video. If you seriously put 10 qts in your car 12 days ago then I’m sure your trans has already is about to blow up 🤡
If you can do it youll be fine. but always if your doing more complicated work the chances youll run into problems increase. I would recommend getting a new gasket for the pan if you are too drop it.
