Rajko Ljubić, the author of these films, devoted fifteen years to filming customs, events, stories, and exciting and creative people in the Croat Bunjevac community in the Subotica area.
Bunjevci are an ethnic group living in Southeastern Europe, most of whom live in Serbia. They are Croats by origin but have developed their distinct culture and identity. Bunjevci were first mentioned in historical sources in the 14th century, originating from southern and central Bosnia. In the 16th century, many of the people of Bunje moved to Bačka, where they adapted to the local customs and language but kept their religious and cultural connection with Croatia. Recently, Croatian Bunjevci have begun to establish themselves again as a significant group with many activities aimed at preserving and promoting culture and identity.
