Hi pal, I'm Dan, the guy at 1:44 (the better looking one) You may recall I asked you to be in my vlog too. Unfortunately the clumsy bastard I am I hadn't hit the record button. I'd like to blame the booze but I'm naturally like this Anyway here's my vlog, hope you enjoy it. It was awesome meeting you ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dARo5FGbM7w.htmlsi=SQJrC2jPqzUwqPUi
Hi Dan. I was hoping you would post a link. You have a new subscriber. Thanks for joining the talent in this video. There’s still a few more to go set to premier a week apart.
By the way there is at least one other really good interview I did where about 8 seconds of it got saved due to me fumbling about with the record button a bit too much. It happens.
Thanks for the comment and the view. They’re young and they show amazing potential. Agreed that they will be something to watch as they grow and continue to improve over time.
Even though it was falling apart before he was resoundingly voted out, it was scaled with ladders and free climbing and it barely covered a portion of any land. You go ahead and blame Biden for it. That's how divisive politics works. Hint: they're all liars and thieves.
100% correct. The wall is yet another of a lifelong list of scams. A project that was doomed to failure from the start while happily wasting tax payer resources. Its only reason for existence is to "gin up the base" as they say. Thanks for watching and for the comment, I really appreciate it! The full "music video" of this is over at this link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ICV7u_kj2bA.html
Enjoyed that. Thanks. Interesting too. It's great hearing musicians talk about their gear. I prefer an older (vintage?) amp sound myself too. I just feel it stands out more live. Has more impact. I find modern amps scoop the mids a bit too much for my playing. Not bad amps. Just not for me. I play a Strat with maple neck as i found it seems to add more mids. But maybe I'm imagining it. I def find it easier to see the fretboard on a maple when on stage. That's just my preference though. Theres no right or wrong, better, worse. Just play what works for you. Thanks again 🙂
Just to add I use my Strat for both live and recording. Because none of my other guitars have its tonal character. The one thing i do change (or will from now on) when recording is i will run the amp EQ flat. All at 12 o'clock. It makes the mix task easier. Live i push the mids full. Along with the Tube Screamer full overdrive too. Plus the Strats scale length, which adds brightness. So it's a lots of mids. I tune down to C# though, with a custom set of very light string gauges (due to RSI). So its an unusual set up. Im not suggesting its perfect. Just that it's right for me Phil's idea is definitely a valid approach. And its right for him and the music in question.
@@someoneelsesradio thanks for commenting. I like the idea of centering your amp EQ during recording and letting the mixing engineer find its place in your mix for you. It's just such a fundamentally different art - studio recording versus live playing. Speaking of live playing - also a big thanks to you for opening the night for us live at The Source Collective in Carlisle May 9 2024 ;) You and the guys sounded great. Expect video of your performance to appear here on this channel when I've had some more time to edit.
Dan Jackson some great info there mate. I'm not sure why I didn't like the Strat in the studio, I seem to remember they sounded a bit mushy in the mix for me but that's probably down to the mods I've had done maybe with the dimarzio Humbucker and brass plate? But I found the Les Paul crystal clear and cut through nice for recording all the rhythms. But live I'm not so keen using the Les Paul with Outlaws and find the Strat more versatile. I think the Les Paul sounds good with 2 guitarists both using them a bit like Thin Lizzy did. But I love using those Strats onstage, I feel it cuts through that trebly bass we have nicely and really takes peoples heads off 🤣 I've also settled on 42-9 gauge strings and definitely gives a better tone and I rarely break one. I'd love to try 8s but think I'd probably snap a few! 🤣
@@outlawrocknroll18 Phil Powell yeah. I find the louder the better for a Strat. They roar at volume. The other thing i found helped was the custom gauge set i use. I read an article by Jimi Hendrix guitar tech. And he said one of the biggest problems with playing a Strat very loud, was the string gauge ratio. He found by narrowing the ratio, thereby making the bottom string a lighter gauge, and thus closer to the high string, in string gauge. It balanced out the overall sound better. The bottom strings no longer dominated the higher strings in volume. Meaning solos higher up the neck stand out a bit more. It also reduces bass a bit, thus more mids. First time i tried it. I cranked the amp. And was astounded. It was such a simple, yet incredibly effective tone modification. And it cost a set of strings. If you are interested in trying it. Here goes... Hendrix custom gauge is 36, 30, 24, 14, 12, 9 I adapted it for my RSI, and use generally 34, 28, 23, 13, 11, 8 So down at C# its like elastic bands. Means i can still play though. Plus i can sing at C#. The Marshall Bluesbreaker i play through handles the lower tuning ok. Plus its greenback speakers. The louder i play the amp, the more i reduce the bass EQ. To stop over compression It might not work for everyone. But works for me. Either way, it's interesting info
@@someoneelsesradio @outlawrocknroll18 thank you both for the insightful conversation! I love chatting gear and how gear decisions affect creativity. Thanks for watching, subscribing and chatting here!
The BIG difference being our wall is to stop an ongoing invasion that has been facilitated by the current failed star chamber administration. It’s ironic that all the liberal leftist clowns that try to compare Trump to Hitler never keep their promise of moving out of our country. Funny how that works, huh?🤔🤣
Hey! Thanks for watching the video, Joseph. It's just a teaser snippet from this music video over here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ICV7u_kj2bA.html
Tarmac repairs? In England? Most of our roadways at this point are tarmac repairs interspersed with potholes from north to south. This trip was last summer when I played a gig at O'Rileys nightclub for the first time. Great venue, well attended, very fun crowd. Thanks for both the comment and the view! I hope you've subscribed for more!
Would you like to see the bike? It's a helmet cam so it's about rider viewpoint on a ride. If you're interested I'll get up a video of a walk around the little beast when the sun comes back out here.
I bet that was a bonus, l heard no trips were calm in the UK, even a supermarket trip sometimes yields a few ignorant drivers and a couple of road ragers.
Cheers I really appreciate the input! This is a snippet from a rehearsal captured on a little dslr camera's condenser mic. I'll be back here with some more snippets in the lead up to our first showcase show (Hull, UK, March 22 with All Demons Have Disciples) and then full songs better recorded after the show. Drop a subscribe and hit the bell to get notifications when new snippets and tracks drop.
