If you have a Advantage N your doctor for Hospital everything has to be approved. You have no say, insurance companies push n because they make a lot more money on your policy. If you want freedom from your doctor or Hospital you need to go with g

You are WRONG!!!! FEHB IS considered "Creditable Coverage". Please stop scaring federal retirees into thinking that it is not. Does someone just wave a magic wand at age 65 and say "this is no longer valid coverage!!!" No. Been retired since age 56. My FEHB has covered everything since then. Stop scaring people. IT IS CREDITABLE COVERAGE.

So confusing...as a Fers retiree..initially i opted out of Medicare B and kept my Blue Cross standard plan..But had some health issue and had a bill for over 10 grand. I had to pay. As a result the next year applied for Medicare B payed a 10% penalty and also switched to Blue Cross basic family plan which is nearly $200 a month less than the BC standard plan but my wife and I receive a reimbursement of $800 a year each for having Medicare B under BC basic 0 if you have the more expensive BC standard plan..unbelievable Bottom line, we pay roughly $400 a month for Medicare B and close to 600 a month for Highmark BC basic. Dental both get 2 free cleanings a year. Prescription price depending on what tier we order from. when ordering (90 day supply)..2months free Another heist is when I was an active employee of the Government my yearly health plans cost were fully tax deductible but as a retiree not so. IMO wish I switched to BC basic and definitely got Medicare B when I retired a few years back.. AARP, total worthless agency for Seniors, I would never join !!!!!!

Where does health care companies obtained money to reimburse back to customers. It is all misleading and it is not making a sense all of us. We will filed legal ramifications not secure protection plans by paying our premiums. Postal Services is ripping off to saved 5 billion dollars. Medicare Part B, C, D are cost twice more premiums with health care companies premium are no good! It is ripping off. My health care has lower copays and more. Each year Medical Care increases premiums higher (never gets lower). Please return back Federal Employees Health Benefits! Thank you.

I am 57 and just approved for Medicare, just one month after I was approved for disability, not 24 months which I was expecting. I wish it was 24 months, because I was on Medicaid through the ACA. My Medicaid through the ACA was cancelled. It's been a nightmare! Way more complicated than Medicaid. doctor's visits and medical procedures I already had approved through Medicaid I had to cancel. Now I don't know if I am covered or not? I have limited income through disability. With premium for Medicare and Medigap, I guess I will have to dumpster dive for food?

Many people are struggling with Medicare due to penalties for not enrolling in Prescription Drug Plan (Part D). For the past 2 1/2 years, I have been paying Medicare, and we need to be reimbursed. Despite explaining my situation and writing a reconsideration letter three times, nothing has changed. Now, we are faced with monthly Medicare payments for the rest of our lives. Hopefully President Trump can help!

Retired from fed employment under FERs. Currently still working full time in private industry. However, kept my Navy FEHB health (med/dental/vision) insurance. Just turned 65. Do I need to sign up for Medicare B now? I have credible health insurance but it’s not from my current employer. It’s from my retired navy health plan. On the Medicare website it specifically ask if I have health insurance from my current employer. When the answer is no it won’t let me delay without penalty. I want to sign up after I fully retire but don’t want to pay the penalty. Advise?

It's always best to get advice from independent brokers who can help you see how the 2 work for your situation. Some can not afford Medicare Supplements plus a Part D. In FL, for example, it was over 200 for someone turning 65. They could not afford that!

Many retirees believe their fehb coverage changes at age 65. That is false, but there could be a change in how you are billed as discussed in: 5 CFR Part 890 Subpart I -- Limit on Inpatient Hospital Charges, Physician Charges, and FEHB Benefit Payments. Hospitals, physicians cannot bill you more than the amount that medicare would approve, provided the hospital/physician takes medicare. You will get indirect medicare benefits by not even having medicare. Your coinsurance might even be less if you are billed at the medicare rate, which is usually lower. Its a different story if a provider is a medicare opt out.
@tonyg3772
@tonyg3772 8 месяцев назад
Ive read dozens of opm and professional advisor articles on fehb/medicare when you reach age 65. My conclusion, medicare b is not necessary. Dont forget, even with a fehb plan that reimburses you for the partial amount of medicare b premium, at a minimum, you will be paying $1100 more in premiums each year if you take medicare b. That amount will cover alot of copays/coinsurance with just your fehb plan. My policy has a $5000 catastrophic max, and Im ok with that.

@user-nm5yv6ij8w
@user-nm5yv6ij8w 8 месяцев назад
That 51% that you brag about also includes all of the many people that want to switch back to traditional medicare but cannot because they are unable to pass health questions (due to their pre-existing conditions) to get approved for a medigap supplemental plan to pair with traditional medicare. Without a medigap plan, changing back to traditional medicare would be financial suicide, so these people are stuck in an Advantage plan for the rest of their lives.

Hello, great video. I am trying to gift my homeless parents a house and my parents get Texas Medicaid QMB and medicare. What should be the maximum house value in Texas so they do not lose their QMB benefits ? Also does Medicaid estate recovery program try to seize the house of deceased QMB recipients who never lived in any nursing home or any other long term living facility ? Thanks
@MedicareCompared
@MedicareCompared 8 месяцев назад
Hello! Regardless of the value of the home, your parents may still be required to pay taxes on the property which will then become an "asset" to them, possibly causing them to lose their QMB status. Additionally, there is the possibility of Medicaid coming after the house once your parents have passed. If possible, an alternate option would be to keep the home in your name and allow your parents to live in the home as "renters".

Hi, as a 64 year old retired army reservist. I am planning on signing up for Tricare Select due to a recent job loss. But in my research of the topic, I keep hearing about Tricare for Life working in conjunction Medicare at 65. My question, would Tricare for Life do what plan G does? I know I am not your target audience. But there are a lot military retirees out there.
@MedicareCompared
@MedicareCompared 8 месяцев назад
Hi there! Yes, Tricare for Life works similarly to Plan G where it will pay your out-of-pocket costs left behind from Original Medicare. The main difference is that TFL has a lower deductible than Plan G at only $150 per year. When offered TFL, it is usually recommended over a Medicare Supplement.

Is the late enrollment penalty pro-rated for periods less than 12 months. Will a 9 month delay incur a penalty
@MedicareCompared
@MedicareCompared 9 месяцев назад
It is not pro rated! The penalty only occurs per each full 12 month period. So, a delay of 9 months will not see a penalty.

I believe this medicare and this Part D prescription drug Penalty it a big money market scam - Skimming thousands of dollars from the disabled and the elderly thats on low income anyhow just because a person who might gave a hard time and may need extra time or a person to at least explain things to them But to expect people to just jump roght on into the plot is not right This Penalty needs to be taken away or placed on the workers for not taking the time to help a person that has some understanding issues - nobody deserves this

In this case, your employer coverage would still be primary and Medicare would pay secondary. However, this could change depending on the specifics of your situation.

hypothetical = Jan 1 is your birthday - you turn 65 - and you miss your initial enrollment period. You decide to enroll on Jan 1 the next year - you are now 66. Since your initial enrollment period ended 9 months ago - are you still subject to the 10% late enrollment penalty???
@MedicareCompared

No! You are only subject to the Part B penalty once a 12 month period has gone by. If you've only waited 9 months, the penalty will not apply.
