One of my all time favorite Longhorns. Jordan Whittington is the most selfless player I have ever seen. He was. Ever ever about himself. He was always about his team and his teammates. He was here through some bad times but came back to turn this program around. If you look closely whenever someone got the block they need to score, or someone running ahead to clear up the lanes Jordan was there and he was that guy that was making it possible for his teammates to be successful. I cannot count how many times his blocking lead to a huge play or touchdown. And I will never forget how in the tcu game in 2023 he missed on a diving tackle on the tcu defender who had just intercepted the ball. Jordan gets up and chases this dude down 30 yards later and forces a fumble as he tackles the defender. Texas got the ball back and scored. In a game that turned out to be a nail biter his play undoubtedly help us to squeak that victory out. I will miss watching him play in Austin but will be dammed sure to watch him in the nfl.
Heck yeah!! In 2018 my brother was on the Cuero High School coaching staff when Jordan was a senior and the Gobblers won the state title. That season I twice flew down from California to Texas to see four of Cuero's games. Reg season wks 9 & 10. Then, the semifinal v Silsbee and the title game v Pleasant Grove. J. Whittington is an electric talent. Wonderful athleticism, awareness, instincts, and as Sarkisian said, a high football IQ. The tenacity that JW plays with is riveting to watch.
What? No Texas fans talking about the Alabama (they have black players too) yelling out the racist chants to the Texas player's on the sidelines as the final seconds ticked off?
This is not the place...let's discuss the positive. That was an amazing game to be at and experience. Did you get to attend the game or watch it on ESPN? Did you see Ewers airdrop the ball into Worthy's hands in the end zone? Coach Sarkisian shared an interesting piece of knowledge about that throw. Ewes purposely threw the ball high in the air so that Worthy could track it easier. Sarkisian mentioned that for the receiver, it is like a baseball player tracking a fly ball in the outfield and making the play just perfectly. What a great game for Texas as they get ready for the SEC. It showed they are ready. #HookEm
We got one...just as the time ran out we were recording and you can see it briefly. You are correct. After less than a minute, the score was gone. Interesting.
I’m so happy for my Longhorns and coach Sark. Coach Sark has done everything right in building the culture, the talent on the field and assembling a top notch coaching staff.
Agreed...It is interesting to observe. Sarkisian, the coaches (for all the sports), and staff are a reflection of the leadership at Texas. If we had to describe the entire Athletics staff we would use two words, servant leaders.
This is not a loudspeaker, it is being played on actual bells. The tower automatically plays The Eyes of Texas each night at 9 PM. But it is more impactful when that happens after a football win
Amazing Team Effort... Y'all had us on the edge of our seats.. we cheer with you too.. Congratulation to Pepperdine.. they are so tough... Texas had to WORK for that win!!!
This was amazing. Clearly they both were playing for the gold. For the match to come down to the last game, 40-30 of the last set was off the charts. This truly does exemplify championship sports. Yes, Pepperdine deserves some serious respect and praise. Wow!
Pepperdine is certainly courting the foreign players. Who wouldn’t want to live in Malibu for a few months? The final match came down to what: a Russian and a Swiss? Tennis is quite the international sport.
James, you are spot on...one amazing thing that blows my mind when I'm on these interviews with players and coaches is their level of confidence, knowledge, and humbleness. What a privilege to get a chance to talk with players and coaches. Thank you for your comment. #Hookem
