With a player base as low as Infinite's is, it's like the vast majority of active players are running cheat suites. Nobody is playing that game casually anymore, so everyone left would be incentivized either for comps or content creation clips.
Uh i wouldn’t ban him for life. Everyone messes up and deserves a second chance. If course their should be repercussions and punishments. But he's served his time.
People in halo need to use common sense. If they are magically as good in infinite as pros that's been competing at the top level since h3 they are more than likely cheating. Also, if they destroy online and can't break past Saturday on lan they are more than likely cheating. There is another pro that HCS did a player spotlight on that everyone thinks is the next big thing but he for sure cheats online. Sad that they made a game so easy to cheat then allow people to qualify for money tournaments online. Easy money for the cheaters. I wouldn't mind if halo went back to console only or if they at least separated the ability for PC to play against console. Sure, there are cheats for console and devices that people use but it's not nearly as bad as on PC.
I feel old saying this but a few of the pros who compete now never played Halo 3 as they would have been like 3/4 years old :( its just time, a new generation of players come through and out with the old. I understand what youre trying to say but I do disagree with the satement that playing a long time equates to high quality Halo. I 100% agree that it would be so much nicer if everyone was on console but that cant happen anymore sadly. once they moved past console you cant really undo that. I just hope 343 learn and dont make the same mistakes on their next game
If the player is competitive, time does equate to being better. This isn't like sports where people get old and have to retire because their arthritis is acting up. Haha that's crazy. You've been competing for over 10 years, you should know that you are a little bit better player now than 10 years ago. You think someone that's been playing only since infinite can consistently beat you 10 out of 10 times without cheating? Impossible
@@dontump2286 I know what youre saying but youre not thinking of the bigger picture. Life takes over as youre older. By your logic Ogre 1,2 and walshy should still be at the top. but they cant dedicate as much time to the game. plus new games will always bring in a new generation of players. Look at Halo 2, the whole of the carbon squad pretty much droppped off when Halo 3 came out bar Ghost. was it because the halo 3 players were cheating? no its just the game didnt suit their style. this kind of stuff will always happen. Players careers are never that long if you really look into it
@@LooneyEU I'm more concerned about blatant, deliberate cheating. If it's something that isn't debatable then the punishment should be incredibly harsh. I'd be ok with lesser punishment for things that are more on the debate table.
Montages were a big thing (for everything) in those Napster/Kazaa days because people barely had high-speed internet and it wasn't feasible to send full length videos. Like I remember downloading dragonball z montages just because I wanted to watch dbz but it would take 12 hours overnight on dial-up to download a terrible quality 1 minute clip. So I think that's a underrated aspect to this. Before youtube and before everyone getting cable internet this was the only way to share any sort of video. You couldn't just like upload an entire series from a tournament and just have that all readily accessible somewhere. And people wouldn't be able to even download all of that and watch it anyways. I know MLG kind of did this, but if anything they were the exception. Nowadays you can just watch someone in realtime play, and social media also curates things for you automatically. So you just don't need a montage of anything anymore. I guess I'll add if this gets old scene people to watch you should check your old laptops and external hard drives for footage. It's always cool to find old footage and you never know some of it might be really valuable. Like for instance Xena's brother (I think), who played on Mastas of Disastas, hosted a DC++ server with tons of old gameplay footage. Would be cool if that got uncovered.
i mean thanks to your channel a lot of old tourneys were saved so a huge props to you. its a bit of a shame Halo peaked at a time when the internet was so young :(
Tbh Infinite's theater/file system is so trash making a montage these days would be damn near impossible unless you are also live capturing all your gameplay.
100000% I was speaking to Hastings and he believes that the downfall of montages came down to the downfall of theatre and fileshare. such a massive shame

AOL Instant Messenger(AIM) 😂 file front & mega uploads, should be noted that a lot of folks weren't streaming videos back then and opted for the download which means the views on those older videos is likely 10x+ what is shown on RU-vid counter. It's all about passion now baby. Forget the views. Halo will be on top again, I wont stop til it is.
@RenzoRugnone duddeeee this video could have EASILY been like 4 hours long, I have SO much unused footage of Eli and Muggsy and we go so indepth. All those points u said were mentioned but I wanted to keep it under 15 mins and that was impossible under 20 mins was the next challenge sadly
Very impressively constructed and expertly research. As a h2/h3 tager from back in the day, the scene of halo montages, specifically around h3f, is a story that deserves such coverage and more. So much passion & impressive works of art spawned from what was basically a group of teenagers, a video game, and as eli eluded often pirated softwares lol. The touch on montagers vs the pros was excellent as well, everybody interviewed did a great job in the framing of what it was like to be in that world at the time. Would watch endless videos like this, kudos on the fantastic edit Looney. Oh and just in-case it caught somebody else's ears too, airguitar's channel was launched and popular well before h3 blew up the scene :)
@@LooneyEU I made a few here and there ;) But was a fixture on the vids section on h2f/h3f/thf more than anything. My SEO unoptimized teenage self never would have guessed the auto correct errors that "rhis halo montage" turning into "this halo montage" would eventually make lol
even the hype when they would release a trailer in prep for a montage to drop. the hype was on another level, for me its always gotta be 'avengers' i remember ninja putting it on his stream title and stuff. so sick
Brilliant summary of the scene, i started in the halo 3 era but was acutely aware of the halo 2 scene that came before. Anyway all the views expressed about the h3 era and onwards perfectly encapsulate my thoughts, right down to muggsy saying if he had to reccommend one halo 3 video it would be legacy. It was good to go back in time again for a bit here.
I've made at least 1 montage for each Halo game since Halo 2 (well apart from H4...). Reid, Phurion and Abused Goat were legendary back in the day. I went to the first XL event and they premiered Gripz new montage on the main stage! I still have a lot of the montages from the era, downloaded from Mythica. Good times!
@@LooneyEU would be a music licensing nightmare! I've still got a copy of that Gripz video but it's probably on RU-vid. I was at XL with the DBUK guys and gals, social games and quite a few drinks! I did at least get through r1 of the ffa despite a hangover.
DUDEEEEEEE, when muggsy was telling me that i was losing it. Halo would be 3x as big if that dropped. He was telling me like sillygoose, CJnew, Viral and basically like the godfathers of Halo montagers were involved and they could edit any game they wanted to do. IMAGINE
Tried to get into making montages last month, and I was rudely awakened to the lack of capture cards and true POV footage. So many of the epic kills in matches on mainstage were downright missed completely by the observer with no chance of ever getting the pov for a montage...
@@LooneyEU Sadly I wasn't on RU-vid much back then and when I was, I wasn't so much into online Halo content/montages more generally. So I like hearing about more of these times I missed.
